Suddenly My BP Won't Use Hide

Alright, so a few weeks ago, I realized my BP's hiding log was too small, as he had outgrown it. This became apparent when the log would lift up on top of him as he tried to curl up inside it, and it would inevitably end up adrift in the middle of the terrarium (I usually keep it flush against one side). So naturally, I went and got a bigger one, but now it seems as if he's become accustomed to being outside the hide all the time, and refuses to use it, even when I place him in it myself. You may ask why this even concerns me. It's because I feed live (don't try to sell me on feeding frozen, I don't care), and I prefer him to be in the log when I drop the mouse in so he can "ambush" it. Any thoughts? Thanks

Is it a half log hide? Those are pretty crappy hides. Try finding a tight fitting cave like hide instead.

one natural looking and cheap hide is a half coconut shell. you can make it your self if your skilledo r they sell them at most pet stores for like $2

Sounds like he misses his "hat". No big deal, he just wants a smaller hide. But I would steer clear of those half log things. Think small dark and secure. And have two matching hides if you have the room (one cool side and one warm side).

I mean yeah, it is, but be that as it may, he used a half log with absolutely no problems for years until, like I said, just a few weeks ago. I don't think he would use any type of hide right now, is what I'm getting at. I may try and see if I can test one of the ones you're talking about out; my local pet store owner is pretty cool. Still, I don't think the type of hide is the problem. Could be wrong.

If that was the only type of hide you provided, he didn't have a choice. Try the cave hides, you might be suprised.

go to the dollar store get a plastic bowl cut a hole place it in the tank cheap and easy

hide on the cool side and a hide on the hot side ;)

i agree with losing the half log hide dude, i just got mine a week ago, and i had one of them, i switched to some small pastic flower pots, four of them to be exact, from wal mart and she loves them.

Use one of these. Done and done.

Out of personal experience and perhaps my snakes personal preference she actually likes her half log. She has more than one hide but she's about 80% of the time in that one. The other ones are short carboard boxes.

But I don't know, the log is against the wall and it's probably a bit small for her now which might be why she likes it so much, she has to really squish herself in there.

Just saying they're not THAT bad according to my snake. But it all depends I guess.
