Prayer Request

My grandfather is currently in critical condition with a very severe infection, pancreatic necrosis and gall bladder issues. He needs to stabilize a bit so that they can do another surgery and remove the gall bladder. Since I live far away and can't really help in an immeditate way I feel at a loss. I believe very strongly in the power of prayer and good thoughts, so that's what I have been trying to focus on today. I'd like to ask for any of you who pray to add your thoughts to mine, to help him make it through the next couple days. :please: :please: :please:

I know how you must feel being far away since I too live far from my relatives but the caring, loving heart of a granddaughter knows no geographical boundaries. My daughter in law was once in that situation and recovered nicely once the gall bladder was able to be removed. I pray that your Grandfather will do the same.

Sorry to hear about your grandfathers situation Christie, I know what you are going through, I had a similiar situation a few months back, my prayers will definately be with your grandfather, and you and your family.

Thank you all. So far my grandfather is still holding his own and the next surgery is schedule for Friday morning. He'll still need one more surgery after that due to the massive amounts of infection, but this surgery Friday is the biggest hurdle right now.

I can't tell you how much I appreciate the support. :grouphug:

I'm so sorry I missed this thread earlier. Positive thoughts sent your way. I truly hope your grandfather is feeling better very, very soon.

Quick update. His surgery went well, and they were able to do everything they planned to get done. His next surgery will be on Monday, with several more in the future. He will stay in ICU for the next month as they work on getting rid of the rest of the infection, so he still has a long road to recovery but we definitely have a more positive outlook.

Good to hear that the surgery went well. If I understood your first post, the biggest hurdle was just getting him stable enough to be able to do that surgery, so it sounds very promising.

I hope so too Casey. Today's surgery was a bit postponed due to a bad turn he took yesterday. Body temp and respiration dropped significantly. They even signed a DNR. He is currently in surgery, even though he is not as strong as they would like him to have been. If he didn't have the surgery today, then he had no chance of coming through this at all.

It's been a really rough day for me and my family, all trying to hope for the best but still sorta bracing ourselves for the worst. I'm just not ready to lose my grandfather, although I don't think there will ever be a time that I'm ready for that. :tears:

I might have missed any updates. How is your grandfather doing?

Are these the relatives in South Daytona? If so and they need help with anything Im right around the corner.

He is still in Intensive Care, and underwent another surgery yesterday. He seems to be holding his own, even when we didn't think he'd make it through another surgery. He's undergoing dialysis but his kidney function is on the rise. He seems to be making small steps in the right direction, but is still under sedation and the infection is still not cleared up completely. It's been an up and down rollercoaster and I still flinch a bit when the phone rings.

Yes, Jeremy they are in Daytona. I really appreciate your offer. That is so sweet. :hug: Right now, my dad and stepmom plus numerous aunts and uncles are there helping out. We're lucky that we have such a large family that is able to help out. I've offered to come down as well, but they seem to have everything well in hand.

Well, I just got a phone call and found out my grandfather passed away this morning. Please keep my family in your thoughts. :tears:
