    New Tattoo
You can never have enough tattoos. After a year of not getting one I went and got a new one the other night! I love stars and any designs with symmetry.

Love the shading in your star. I've seen hundreds of variations on that theme, but yours is a little unique.

Oh that's nice Jamie! I like how it appears to just pop out of your skin. Very nice shading work.

Nautical stars have the best look especially when they are done in 2 colors or one solid and one shaded. Coming from a ex tattoo artist, Jaimie thats a good one.

Thanks all! I love tattoos. This is #7 and I am getting ready to get a half sleeve done in Japanese style (koi, water, flowers).

The artist who did this one worked on me and Amy a year ago. She is fantastic. If anyone is NJ her name is Azaria and she works at Shotise's Tattoo in Wayne. www.shotsiestattoo.com.

So here's a question for everyone. I am thinking of getting a coverup for the chinese lettering on my wrist. My tattoo artist mentioned a black rose as classic. I haven't seen a lot of them on guys (found a few on google). What do the tattoo experts and non experts think? Here are a couple I found that I liked:

Azaria is awesome and works at a wonderful shop!

I have blue roses on me. I don't think it matters if you're a guy or girl. It's your body.

I wouldn't get a solitary black rose myself. As part of a scheme it would be OK but not as a stand alone.

Why dont you just take a picture and bring it to a good artist to replicate

The problem with doing a black rose as a cover-up is that they always LOOK like a cover-up. The success and quality of a good cover-up tattoo is that the original tattoo is worked into the design in a way that you can't tell it was a cover-up at all. And I haven't seen the tattoo you're wanting to cover, but I can tell you that nothing will cover a solid black tattoo, other than solid black. If the original is really solid and dark, you may want to consider a session or two of lazer treatment to lighten up the original so you have a bigger choice of color and design options.

The one I am covering up is just 2 black chinese letters that are line drawn. Shouldn't be too difficult at all.

Ah, if they're that small, I'd say that your options are pretty open then. Just pick something you really like and the artist should be able to work the existing tattoo into it. Post pics when you're done though! (tattoos are one of my obsessions and addictions)
