the so called glow
I was wondering the glow does this mostly refer to the lightening up onthe female color.. I wondering cause I had an unplanned event ( never respond to fire calls and what not while cleaning tubs ) anyhow to make it short my female is looking lighter in color than befoer . she was almost as dark as the male bp and I happen to place them sid by side today cause i was thinknig something not right looking at them I realized the female was lighter in color ( the male had shed about 3 weeks ago so I knew he was not due to shed again ). Like I said just a dump question.. I know i can think of more..

Re: the so called glow
So far, one of mine has 'Glowed', and I was silly and did not take pics (well, I did, but I'm terrible at it so you can't tell the difference). What I noticed was that she was lighter all over. I could see more blushing, her head was lighter, etc. This lasted for a few weeks. Then she shed, and is now darker again.

Re: the so called glow
I'll try to dig up pictures of one of my breeder females, Dori. When she glowed last year it was the most startling change. I literally did a double take and for a moment wondered how I'd switched snakes! LOL Funny enough after her startling glow she never really went back to her original shades and has stayed much lighter than she was before she was gravid last year. My other breeding females that glowed didn't go through such a drastic change and did go back to their normal look afterwards.

When Akina, my normal, was glowing she looked like a totally different snake. I couldn't believe the change. I have a picture of her pre-glow and a picture of her in glow. I'll try to find them.

Re: the so called glow
welll then my female might be glowing lol she seems lighter in color but I am no pro lol. I just have to wait i and see. I know mt tubs are humid and all but I wonder how much of a window ( in advance ) should I consider pulling out the incubator and setting it up to run ? I am reusing last year's mats after i had clean and sterilezed them ( bake the medium ) and bleahc the unite then rinse it out. should i go ahead and set it up once i can see a sign of eggs . aslo if I I happen to be out when she lays them how long befoer they possible dye off do I have to get them into the incubator . I gut grass durign the days so at the most I be gone 4-6 hours. ( i start about 7 am and am home again by noon at the lastest on most days. It mostly for the exersice ...

Re: the so called glow
well if your tubs have good temps/humidity mom should be fine with her eggs. I am almost thinking about leaving my 2 in with the eggs because after 2 months of work, my incubator is acting up. Lat week all week the temps were perfect 88.3-88.7, not too bad, and in just the last few days it went over 90, and now it won't go above 86.
But your girl is by nature a good mother, and don't be affraid of her being on her eggs for a few hours, or even more than a day.
And most of all Good luck:)

Re: the so called glow
As long as your humidity is ok and you have the right temp gradient in your tubs you should be fine. Just make sure your substrate wont suck the moisture out of the eggs. The best thing to do is put a large dish full of hatching medium in the tub with her and hopefully she will lay the eggs in it.
You want your incubator up and running for a couplea weeks so you know your temps are stable.
Good luck!
