I've never seen anything like that before. It may have problems in a serious winter or where there are hurricanes but it looks like it would be nice in a mild climate.

That house is beautiful, it would be a dream to live in it.

that would be easily done using an Allen Bradly PLC.

i'd be more worried about what happens after years of winters and the foundation starts to heave.
