a quick search on this site sould come up with the details. it is just like an aquarium but you will need to spend time putting holes into the back and sides with a drill or figure out a way to melt the holes (i used my stove to heat a allen wrench, i wouldn't suggest that though it didn't make clean holes). that take time to get humidity and temp readings to determine if you need more holes. aside from that just be sure to use a thermostat.

You can buy a soldering iron for about $10.00 and use it to melt the holes. That's what I do. Works perfectly.

That link... They say you can use UTHs with plastic tubs?

I was under the impression that a UTH would melt a tub pretty quickly?

If you can use the UTH then what size for what tub?

    Thanks.

Why would it melt the tub if it is set to 94* with a thermostat?

OP: a thermostat is a device that controls your heat source so it doesn't get to hot and burn your snake. It allows you to set the temperature and it regulates the heat by turning it on or off, or by limiting the current running though it.

I use a wood burner to melt the holes all around the top edge of the tub, I have newspaper in the tubs now, when everyone is out of QT I will be using aspen, smaller snakes have hides, and the biggest ones don't because they won't use them.
I heat with flexwatt back heat. the flex is on a t-stat.

I use the smaller underbed tubs the babies are in 6qt up to 200g, up to 500g are in 12-15qt, 500-1500g are in 34qt, and big girls are in 41qt.

Once the QT time is up everyone moves into a rack.

Yep, the most I have ever paid is $10 for a tub because I like the iris tubs with the locking lids. Just make sure whatever type of tub you get, you have a way of securing the lid to prevent escapes. Some people use binder clips or bungee cords, or old fashioned books. :3

back heat is just what it sounds like. You place the heat source on the side or back of the tub. You need a thermostat or rheostat for any heating element. You can't really cut corners with that one.

You can buy flexwatt from reptile basics and you can get a fairly inexpensive thermostat (glorified rheostat) from reptile supply. A rheostat is a hood quick fix until you can get a thermostat.

This type of lamp dimmer used as a rheostat is no where as good as a decent tstat but it can do in a pinch and is usually around $10.00. You do have to check it a lot especially if the room your snake's enclosure is in tends to have swings in temps throughout the day.
