why are pied combos so popular?

I've noticed in a few "what is your dream snake" discussions that may people seem to take a great combo and add "pied" to it.

I like pieds, and the panda pied is pretty neat being completely unpatterned.

But the other combos, I don't understand the point. By the time you've bred a couple of base morphs together, getting pied in the mix just sort of makes the resulting snake lose some of the "look" that the other morphs provide.

IMO the pied has the least potential to create combo morphs that I like.

Lucky for you, other people's idea of a "dream snake" don't dictate what your idea of one has to be. :P

Personally, I'm not big into most of the albino combos, even though I really like regular albinos.

It's really all a matter of personal taste. Different aspects of each morph will appeal to individuals differently. Some people really enjoy the randomness of the pied morph and are always curious about how it will look with other morphs. And if it looks a particular way out of one clutch...will it look the same the next time? (Maybe the "high white" and "low white" variables will alter the look of various combos)

There's really no point in trying to figure out why someone else likes what they do. They just....do. I can't understand why some people paint the walls of their home bright, glaring colors! But hey...if they like it, what does it matter what I think? I'm not the one who has to live with it. :P

Before the first pied combo came out I thought you could never improve on the stark white contrast of a normal pied. But so far I've liked pretty much all of them. Even the yellow headed spider pied and especially the all white lesser pied. I don't care if everyone already has 10 white snakes I still want one and I want it to be as white as possible and it sounds like the lesser pied is a notch or two over any of the bels. Can't really tell you why but pied combos are high on my list.

I personally love the pied combos, and I'm the one cleaning the tubs so liking what I'm cleaning up after is a must.

Because Pieds are hawt as heck, and mixing that with another morph in combo just makes it that much hawter!!!!

Pieds used to be one of my favorite least combos until I saw one in person. They're just so striking to see. I don't like the lesser/mojo/butter pieds, but axanthic, panda pied, hypo pied, pastel pied, etc all look killer!

I think besides pastel the first morph I saw in person was a pied. Talk about impressive. Like everyone is saying.......adding it to anything is just beyond Uber awesome!

I really love anything pied, except the spider pied. I don't think I would take one if you gave it to me free. The head is soooo ugly lol.

I don't know if I can tell you why I love pieds so much... I guess maybe the "wow" factor. They're pretty shocking the first time you see one, and to me every single new pied morph that I see still has that "wow" factor.

Maybe it's becaue the pied is so unique... Some of the other morphs start to blend together to me... If you put pictures of a mojave, a cinnamon, a clown and a chocolate in front of me, I don't think I could tell you which was which. The difference between a spider combo and a pinstripe combo? Probably couldn't point it out to you... There's no way I could tell the difference between a yellow belly and a normal... Now throw some pied into the mix and you know for sure that's no normal BP.

Or maybe it's because I like calico kitties, and pieds look way more like a calico than the "calico ball python" ever could. :D

To each their own, but I'm just crazy for anything pied, anything axanthic and several albino combos. Some of the albino combos are pretty "meh" too though.

Personaly, I love albinos, the only pied combo I realy like is the albino-pied. But for some reason I only like one combo mixed with spider, and that is an axantic-spider. I just don't see much in the other spider combos, or the other pied combos.
We all have things we like, and don't like. I am happy letting everyone else have what they like. and I may end up with one of those spiders, or pieds just to mix them with axantic, or albino.

I'm not a pied fan much either. But then, I've never seen one up close and personal. But, of course, if it doesn't rock my boat, it's something my husband wants. Like the albino. I'm not big on them either but my husband loves them to bits! I'm not big on anything that looks like one of my kids' rubber snakes. And the albino and pieds look too much like toys to me. :D
But then, if I see one in person, it might be different - like some people say here that pieds have wow-factor. So, I'll hold my opinion on that. I'm still so-so on the albino even after we got one. Next to the spider, it just "pales" in comparison - pun intended.

The axanthic spider is hot... Killer bee, right? I am in LOVE with axanthic combos too... The axanthic pied is orgasmic...

I'm starting to like some of the spider combos more and more... which sucks because I'm terrified of the "spin". I used to be terrified of the "wobble" too but I'm kinda getting over that... It's just the idea of the really bad cases that scares me. There was a time that I swore never to own a spider, let alone breed it... But I don't know anymore... :weirdface

I'm dying to make a candied pied.....but alas it's years away

I think you would change your mind having seen one in person. Pieds are one of those animals that will even draw the attention of those that hate snakes. They have been my favorite ball morph since there were morphs. lol.

I for the life of me can't understand why people like cinnamons or cinnamon combos. Same goes for albinos, yet plenty of other people seem to love them.

Im not a pied fan at all either, I think normal pieds are UGLY! I hate the mud color on most of them. It seems lately that most pied combos are super high white, but a few are pretty cool.

When I first saw pieds I really didn't care for them but as time went on I came to like them a lot. I agree with the people that say "What ever floats your boat." The potential for morph combo's is limitless.
