    New to the forums
Hi, I'm new to the forums and thought I'd post some pics of "Fatty". Sorry, no fancy pics, just an old point and shoot digital.

He/She was sort of a rescue from a local pet store (Petsmart). When I went in to grab some fish food I saw him/her in a really small tank and asked if I could hold it. The girl brought it out and started talking about how he/she has a huge appetite and eats 6-8 fuzzies a week. I explained he should be eating a larger prey and she kept arguing. I felt bad and came back later that day and purchased him.

This is my first python. I've owned 3 boas before this and this forum has helped me out a lot in the few days I've been here.

    WELCOME!

You know how PETA got Kenny Rogers Fried Chicken place shut down for bad treatment of their chickens - or whatever it was that PETA had their bloomers in a wad about. Anyway, I'm thinking some Herp Society can band together and talk to the CEOs of PetSmart, PetCO, and all other big box pet stores and give them proper husbandry information on reptiles and if they won't improve on their stores we can file a PETA-like protest. (Well, I really don't like PETA, but they have good protest skills. Hah!)

Welcome aboard, Buttons. Fatty is adorable, and I'm glad you rescued him/her from such a "lovely" environment. Please feel free to ask questions. We're here to answer.

    Hi. Welcome.

Good to hear rescue stories! He/she looks very happy! I've seen BPs at the local "big box" pet stores and they looked close to death and or infested with mites :tears::mad:

We should try to do something...

    :welcome:
Good to hear this BP has a good home now.
I went to a pet shop that is usually good with the way they care for thier BPs (this is where I sell my overstock of rats) When I was looking to see the new reptiles I got very mad. She had 2 about a year old BPs in with a baby boa (for size I would say a month old of so) in a 10gal tank with no place to hide!
In the other tanks she had a few female BPs that had the most horrible sheds ever!:taz:
I would have taken them all home if I could have afforded to, but as she had the normal females marked at $150 for yearlings, and the males marked at $100 for yearlings, and the boa was $200. :rage:
When I tried to talk to her about it she mentioned that she was now going to breed her own BPs, the only one in the store with a hide in its tank was a little male spider.

We all need to form a group to help the poor treatment of these wonderful animals, to educate the mass public, and all those pet shops.

    Sorry to go on,
Welcome again and I'm glad you saved that little ball from all the horrors of life in a pet shop:gj:
