SnakeBytesTV-Will It Blend?? Snakes??

Okay so every now and then I go off the deep end and do a crazy show for fun. To really understand the show the best you need to look up "will it blend" or "Blendtec" on youtube. The guy blends crazy stuff, so we figured what a better way to spoof it then to blend up some snake smoothies. I am thinking this was an experiment for you. Well, I think it's a failed experiment. Worst episode ever IMO. I couldn't even finish watching it. Sure there was the obligatory "Chewy gets bit" section but it just wasn't enough to save the day.

I totally understand, I can't win them all. You have to understand how hard it is to every week come up with the show ideas and story line. I get people pulling me in every direction. Some want more bites, others never want any bites. It's really hard especially when I breed snakes for a living. I'm sorry to dissapoint and it's a terrible feeling to not live up to expectations. Can we get a "this years hottest match-ups" one showing all the wierd, out there or just plain gorgeous pairings you have planned?

Are you trying any unknown pairings or any that nobody expects to produce anything exciting but that you just have a "hunch" about?

There's an 06 sable for sale in the UK for quite a good price but I have never seen any combo's using it and wondered if you could suggest some?

I do have a lesser but was unsure what sable would bring to that.

It's been a really tough couple of months with everything going on here with work and personal. I've been plugging away but really pushing way too hard. Even I have limits:) I think the show has suffered from my overload. I agree that I think after the next couple weeks show that is already shot I might get back to a slimmed down show for a while. Not as much thought into it. More about things like breeding season and pairings. What excites me about reptiles, that's how the show started. I love what I do, and I need to get back to showing my passion for that. We can still have fun and I'm sure we will. I'm not looking for sympathy, it's just hard when you feel like you're letting people down. We've had so much support from everyone. I hope you guys will stick with me through it:) Thanks, Brian(BHB)

Brian, I can honestly say this is the first episode in over a year that I didn't enjoy. I know you can't win em' all, but dang!

I thought it was funny. Sometimes its a good break to go off the deep end once in a while and do something fun. It doesn't have to have a serious subject every time.

Brian, I look forward to watching y'all every week. Don't beat yourself up. You have a busy schedule, a business to run, and, if you have time, a personal life. We get that.

If I were to make any kind of suggestion, it would be to get back to the educational part. Racks/tubs vs. cage/glass, husbandry tips, suggestions on how to build a great enclosure during these hard economic times, and things like that. What do you do?

Hell, if you really wanted to, you could have a segment in there where y'all talked about politics to just break away for a little. Don't try and overdo it. Just be yourself. I hate saying it, but things will happen organically. O_o You've just got to give yourself some time and patience. We're not going anywhere. Promise.

Thanks, again I'm not looking for people to feel bad for me in anyway. I just want everyone to understand my thoughts on our project. I agree 100% that we should get back to some basics. Sometimes you try so hard to continue to push the envelope that it's easy to get off track. One thing I will say is for anyone that hasn't seen the " will it blend" guy. It does make the show a lot more interesting, I didn't just get off the crack pipe.lol. Take a minute and search "blendtec" on youtube. The guy kills me and that's why I spoofed him. That being said we are a snake show and maybe looking back at it, I was way off base. It can't be all about education or a lot of our viewers won't watch. Brian, sorry if my post sounded like I was bustin' your chops, I was just a little taken back by this weeks episode.

I don't know about back to basics so much as back to the formula that got it all started in the first place. Show off those amazing animals, and show off your passion for them. That's the ticket, Bro.

I didn't take it in a bad way. I want positive and negative feedback. It's what keeps you on track. I agree with you 100%, animals and passion are what made the show what it is. I just need to get back to that a little more. But still have fun at the same time. The show that will air next week a think is more interesting. Still we may have made it too creative, but it was one that even when I was researching for the show I learned a few things. What did Bill Clinton used to say?? It's the economy stupid. I would love to see some more of the segments where you rate products.

I would like to see more of the animals but I would like to see more of all of them. Heck maybe even do a quick segment about normals, every one talks about morphs... no one talks about normals....

I like the fact or fiction segments. I don't know what you could do it about but I like it.

Maybe you could do a section on cross breeding i.e. different species of python or just what ever is compatible, this may be hard I don't know if you have any....

Maybe don't do Chewy getting bit every episode. I like the longer episodes, but I like the shorter ones with more content.

This may not have been the best episode ever but hopefully it will be one that you guys can learn something from.

I love the show and I will continue to watch it no matter how bad it gets ;)

My 8 year old twins NEVER misse an episode, and call me every week after they watch. They are just getting into BPs, and I can't tell you how many times your show has prompted great conversations about husbandry and genentics and all kinds of stuff. They start talking about what they saw on the show, and it just goes from there.

Hell, even my Ex-wife (where my kids are) watches it every week with the kids, and has commented on several episodes...she really liked the "Cooking" show!

I didn't get the spoof at first but after watching the Blendtec guy it was pretty funny!

We always enjoy your show, keep doing what makes it fun for you cause you can NEVER please everyone...

I would love to see an episode(s) where you take the different morphs and descrive what makes them a particular morph.

Basics sounds good, i know mostly all of them but im sure there's still people out there that need some basic info, anyways im new here brian but watching your show and seeing all those balls made me get into the whole ball python thing, now it's about having fun and enjoying these beautiful animals that god has let us have,, your shows are awsome and just keep truckin good luck and good bless you all!!!!more snakes more snakes lol....

There is no need to worry about stuff like that. Like it's been said, you can not please everyone all the time. I know how hard it is to be original, and to keep people interested, and I feel for ya. What you need are a set of writers ... a team of people to come up with the ideas for you, and then you just shoot them.

Well I enjoyed it, but I enjoy them all for one reason or another... Some episodes my nose is pushed to the screen with the volume up while I'm hearing a tip for the first time... some it's safe to zone out with, just depends on the content... I can only imagine trying to pick themes each week, film, process, etc... If every show was a 10, even that would get monotones! :rolleye2: Keep it up Brian! :gj:

Well, this was my first time where I just couldn't make it through the show. Snakes in a blender was just too grosse for me and I'm tired of seeing snakes bite.

So, no big deal~ I turn off the tv too ;)

There are always questions on this forum about t'stat probe placements, RHP's for balls, different substrates working or not, belly heat vs back heat, incubator questions and temps and etc., how to give injections for RI, how to assist feed, when to force feed, "how do you make... (bumblebee, etc.)", how do I know my male is ready to breed? (sperm plugs), what do balls do in their natural surroundings, and on and on and on.

Somebody mentioned some shows to spotlight snakes other than corns and balls; I think this is a great idea! Boas rock my reality and some further education and information about them would be great!!

I appreciate your time for this project and realize that you must get to feeling rather over-extended at times. Be good to yourself and know that if you have done your best, that's what really counts. You won't hit the mark every single time, nobody can, but you'll have done your best :)

I agree with all of those topics and I have to get back to those types of themes while still trying to entertain the not so snake people. That's the hardest part, we have a ton of non-reptile people that watch the show and start to become reptile people. It's so cool when someone says they are getting their very first snake because they watched the show for the last couple of months and they just fell n love with reptiles. I don't want to lose that appeal, but at the same time I have to get back to being a reptile show. I would love to have help with writing the show and please send and ideas to me at bhb@comcast.net The show is supposed to be about our community and what better way to make it more of the communities show then to have you guys be involved in it. I would love it to death and I can't thank you enough for the offer.
One last thing, the reason it sounded like I was reading from a teleprompter was because I was spoofing the "will it blend guy" and that's just the way he talks. I guess I should go back to acting school:)
Oh and I wish I could shoot at the hamburg show. I think a show like that would be so sweet, but I couldn't get anyone to man the camera. I don't know what you guys are talking about! I THOUGHT THAT SHOW WAS GREAT! And even my 2 kids thought it was hilarious. They were laughing so hard about snakes in the blender. It's just the kind of thing that gets them going - you know like last week's episode where they rolled the boxed snake down the stairs! They couldn't stop talking about that for days.
I guess I'm the only one that watched the blentec guy. I saw him when he blended the iPhone and I thought he was a cracker (in a bad way). So, when I saw Snakebytes version of blendtec, I thought that was hilarious!!! And I completely get the "monotone" act that Brian was doing - I thought he did blendtec fairly okay (of course, it was comedic to me - which probably was not Brian's intent - hah!). And I always find it cool when Brian wears something other than a black shirt. :D

So, that episode was great because it showed some "formulas" for morph, it has a section of light politics (which was a great answer, by the way), a great way to promote the calendar, and of course Chewy getting bit - my kids' favorite section. So, yeah. We thought that was another great show. The only thing missing was Brian saying the regular opener - Brain from Snakebytes here...

If you could do an episode with another breeder (which I know is like advertising for some one else so that might not be a great idea...) I know that a lot of you guys are kinda close so you might have a close friend or amateur breeder you wouldn't mind having on. Maybe talk about some not so top secret projects that you may be working on. I like the episodes where you make us feel like the in crowd the one that are in the know on breeding.

I know I could not write an episode if my life depended on it, I just hope to throw enough poo that maybe something will stick.....

I too want to reiterate how awesome your series is. But even the best have the occassional flop. I believe in constructive criticism. If no one points out to you what they think is wrong, how will you get better?

I think that the "Will it blend?" idea would have worked in a shorter format. Being the focus of most of the episode was just too much for me. I also thing it would have been better to have the "blend" result the type of offspring the comination being blended would be, and not...a strawberry shake.

Please do keep up the good work.

The blending gave me a little too many visuals, but I thought it was an entertaining show. I do always enjoy watching Chewy get abused though! :D

Oh hell Brian if you try to win them all you will drive yourself nutsy. You simply cannot please all of the people all of the time and if you try the person you will please least will be yourself. I've been to your facility and I'm still in shock over what I saw. How you manage to deal with that many snakes, with that many employees with all their own quirks, with a wife and family, with a business - personally guy I don't know how you do it and remain the funny, friendly and informative guy my family met that day.

So a few people don't like a certain episode you did. So what. If that's the worst thing that happened to them this week - they live a charmed life I figure. :)

On a personal note, the little male Cinnamon we bought from you has grown up and turned into a VERY dedicated breeder LOL. Put him in with his first female and he was like "okay, where's your vent, let's get BUSY!". Take him out of her tub, he snarfs down a rat, grabs a drink, heads off to nap and then hangs around the front of his tub with a sort of "okay I'm set, where's my next lady" kind of look. Mike and I are looking forward to some lovely hatchlings sired by him this year. I'm hoping to get over your way again this summer since my teenagers didn't come with us last time and are dying to see your facility. Beth, my 15 year old who owns a female Albino Nelson's is wants to check out your colubrid room - we may never get her out of there! LOL
