I'm glad he did that and all, but the way they described his reaction kiiind of makes him sound like a basket case.

    First he stars in transformers.

    And now this.

I don't care how annoying his acting may be, he and I would be good friends!

I still plan on saying them all, but I will qualify it all with "but you know that he saved a snake, right?"

I loved him in the first Transformers movie, much to my surprise. I'm very impressed with his attitude.

I think he is a great actor, he reminds me of Micheal Cera with his humorous characters. I think the whole "barney" thing is a little nuts, but hey, we all have snakes in our house. Many people would consider us nuts just for that!

Maybe he had a pet snake once named barney doesnt seem all that weird to me or maybe its some sorta inside joke with a friend or something. And why id it people hate him soo much did he do something that I am unaware of? I mean most of the people i hang out with hate him but I can never get a clear answer other than "He sucks" which is just a matter of opinion and not fact. Just curious. I call all balls I see in petshops Skylers after my first bp.

Funny thing, we just watched Eagle Eye the other day & my bf & I were talking about how much he looks like my brother (who just joined BP.net today, btw), but what a buttwipe we think he is (Shia of course). But at least he did save a snake...

Shia Le...yeah. I think that was pretty awesome that he did that for the rattler. I agree with the comment that he sounds a little deranged in the way the article was written, though.

I'm trying to decide if it is a good thing to finally see some positive press about snakes, or if it is a bad thing that I consider it to be positive press when even other snake lovers are responding to it saying the guy sounds deranged.

Its funny how quick some people are to judge someone for there actions, when there isnt anyone who is perfect and hasn't made mistakes like he did, hypicritical. Just saying!

You may want to look up the definition of hypocritical.

I don't know who this guy is but... Maybe the writer of the article found it strange that somebody would actually protect a rattlesnake and made him out to look strange. Or maybe as a celebrity he saw an opportunity to get some press and did act odd knowing that it would get his name in the media.

Lol. :) I think the Barney thing is kinda cute. I love actors and actresses that obviously have a sense of humor and somehow manage to incorporate it into their acting careers. Justin Long is one of my favorites because of that. I've also got a thing for extremely dorky guys so that's probably why I grinned each time I read "Barney" :D

he's not derranged... he's funny. that just like him to me, and not out of character at all. his sense of humor is just a little weird. but is naming a snake really that weird..? i would have probably done the same.. barney was probably the first thing that came to mind. nothing derranged about that.
    lighten up.

p.s. - i love him. always have. he's not in the tabloids nearly as much as other young actors/actresses... and he's had a dui... so what? so have two people in my family.. and we are pretty down to earth, living "comfortably", kind of people.

I love the guy! I thought he was a cute kid on the Disney show and now I think he is dreamy in the movies he plays in now. I like the guy all around and I think him saving a snake is the sprinkles on top!

What is so strange about this? I am happy that he made sure the snake was ok, and I think the naming thing was more of a way to calm everyone down. Defuse the situation. What do you do when you are an actor on set and you see a poisonous snake? Everyone else around you is panicing and you want them to clam down .. you give the snake a name, and show compassion for it.

I think what he did may sound strange, but he had the whole thing under control and he saved a reptile.

Hopefully his actions might spark a light of change with the others on the set when confronted with a snake. Who knows? Good job nonetheless, he has some press over it.

Personally I've liked the guy since I saw him as Stanley Yelnats in the movie 'Holes'. He seemed to get along well with those Bearded Dragons with the purple spots painted on them.

While I'm glad he insisted on having the snake moved safely, he's a moron for poking at a venomous snake with a broomhandle. All the herp community needs is for some actor to get bitten by a rattlesnake on set because he thought it was friendly and decided to poke it with a broom.
Thanks for helping the snake, please think before you act next time.
