I am not sure what you are asking. Do you have two snakes?

Find a local reptile shop or vet that knows how to determine sex of ball pythons. You should always house ball pythons alone, unless it is breeding season and you want offspring. Check out the threads on ball python husbandry. They will get you on the right road to making sure your ball python is happy and healthy.
    Welcome and Good Luck!

Dude, I hate to bust your chops, but you really need to scrape together enough cash to properly take care of the BP you do have before you even begin to think about trying to breed.

Just out of curiosity, how old are you?

What exactly are you trying to find out then? The process? There are some good stickies in the BP breeding section. That might help answer some of your questions.

BP's in the wild live their whole lives alone except for breeding season. Were your BP given the chance to breed, he'd know what to do....and even if he didn't, it's not like you could teach him:rofl:

Your best bet would be to use the search function and read as much as you can. Then ask more specific questions as they arise.

Here is a good link to start with.... http://www.ballpythons.ca/gallery/breeding.html

I'd also check out all the stickies in the bp breeding forum as well....

Isnt he asking if your male ball (for example) would have any problem breeding after being abstinent for many years..

i assume it wouldnt be more trouble than a 2 year old male who has never bred...but i have -20 experience points.

it seemed to me you guys didnt understand what hes asking....i hope i got it right...now maybe one of yall can have a good answer!!

I can't understand what he's writing, much less what he's asking.

I believe hes asking if a male snake will know what to do when paired with a female snake.. Even if it has never before encountered another snake, let alone a snake of the opposite sex..

It would not encumber the snake's nature.. I believe that they would lock up just fine.. The act of mating is not a learned skill, its something that is engraved in their DNA.. They have to do it to survive.. ya know?

As always, correct me if I'm wrong.

Hah, yeah you did. I really don't know how much clearer you can be. Maybe his question is code *shrug*

However, Scarcelime, I would really like to see pictures of your BPs setup.

Hmm you sure he is not just asking this:

If I put my supposed "male" with my teachers known female. And I see a lock, will that tell me if he is a male. This is because I can't go to a vet and have him properly sexed

I don't know.. about you winning though.. I re-read the original post a few times and It was almost like we jumped into the conversation halfway, ya know? He asked if his turned out to be female, and since his teacher's snake is male, if we thought that the two snakes could breed.. or if they had been isolated for so long that they wouldn't react to one another..

Punctuation goes a LONG way in helping to make yourself understood more clearly. And if you plan on breeding, I assume you also plan on selling offspring, which means presenting yourself professionally to your prospective customers if you hope to be successful.

I have no clue from any of your posts in this thread, what you're trying to ask.

This isn't meant to be a bash - but show your audience that your question is worth their time to answer, by writing more clearly so that they know what your question is.

Otherwise, it's really just a waste of some bandwidth on the internet.
