    Heating the cool side
The cool side of my BP's tub is around 72-75, I was told that would be fine, as long as the warm side stayed around 92-94. But, my BP hasn't been eating, so i want to make sure her new tub is absolutely perfect so she can feel comfortable, happy and wanting to eat again.

Any ideas on how i can heat the cool side of the tank? (inexpensive ways would be best)

Flexwatt and a dimmer. Or maybe a space heater?

I use a space heater. I would agree that it's a good idea to bump that temp up, you could also try insulating the enclosure...is it glass or plastic?

does the space heater work well? Seems like it would take out humidity

would something like this work? http://www.walmart.com/catalog/produ...ct_id=10553595

or would a flexwatt be better?

use some form of belly heat like a UTH or flexwat

you can get another peice of flexwatt for the cool side or get a space heater. It shouldn't leach that much humidity. Pluss you are using a tubs. So there shouldn't be a problem.

no, the ambient and the temp. of the bottom of the tubb are different. Right now my ambient is 74, but the temp. of the bottom of my tank is 83 and 93...my set up is: i have a light on a dimmer on one side and an under the tank heater on a rheostat on the other side.
i suggest you get a temp. gun to get the correct bottom temps.

    TEMP GUNS CHANGED MY LIFE:)

you could try to partly cover the warm side or the tub(make it mroe rack-like). you could adjust your flexwatt to heat a little more of the tub. you could add a piece of flexwatt the cold side with a dimmer or another thermostat.

personally i would just try to cover 3 sides and the top of the tub with something.

I've got 3 sides and the top covered now, seems to help... If my tub is 26"x18" what size flex watt do you recommend for the cool side?

i use a heat pad for people! its about 15 bucks, you can pick your size, and and it has a built in hi-med-low.

careful which one you buy though, some have a built in shut-off, 2 hours or so...

Those are very dangerous to use with snakes. They are not meant for snakes.

Get some 3" or 4" flexwatt, you should only need 1' of it for one tub.
    http://www.reptilebasics.com/Flexwat...p-1-c-297.html
It should only cost you like $10 with shipping and wiring.

how are they anymore dangerous than any other heat source? especially heat pads. theyre all dangerous if not monitored or controlled. newer pads have many fire code requirements, safeties and what not. im not saying theyre better, just wtf? every product has its lemons, even the ones that say "repti" on them.:)

because human heats pads get up to 180*F. Even if you were to control it or "watch it" something could still happen. Use a product that is for reptiles. Period.

I am having the same issues with my new snake in the tub. I have her in a 16 quart tub with an UTH under her hot side and that is being held at 94.3. My cool side is at 71 degrees.

If I were to insulate 3 sides what would I use to insulate it? I have the heavy duty foil on the bottom with foil tape. Whats good for the sides? Also I drilled some holes for air circulation, they are pretty small and I did some on the sides and a couple up top. Is that sufficient?

lol, this is what i mean about tubs. just as hard as a tank unless your ambient temp in the room is in the 80s. but nobody believes me. good example here.
