All great points, but the one about the banks shutting down accounts for erratic activity... :gj:

I hate to split hairs but that was an SKS not an AK47. Sorry. That's just the NRA Life Member in me showing. You made a well thought out preparation plan. Thanks for sharing. All of us will likely face a lengthy power outage at one time or another. I made an 8 gauge wire 50' extension cord for my generator. I made a foot long cord that is male on both ends which I plug into the extension cord making it male on both ends. I remove my electric meter (not having main fuses to remove and not trusting a switch) and plug it into an outlet. This back feeds 1/2 my circuits. I plug it into one in my garage that feeds the circuit that my furnace is on.

Just for anyone who didn't catch it, redpython is Jason Holzberg. The video is made by Will Bird.

LOL, it bothered me that my boyfriend spelled Jason's last name wrong, I guess I'm a stickler for those sorts of thing. Chill man.... ;)

My bad, I always mess up his last name because I went to highschool with a Holzberg.

I was just mentioning it so everyone wouldn't direct questions to Jason about it. Obviously asking Jason if he keeps that much money on hand in the video all the time is kind of pointless when it's Will Bird who made the video.

It happens up here in Michigan. It may not happen as much in Kalamazoo, but around here if it ain't nailed down chances are someone will walk off with it.

That storm is nothing. i live in maine and we get something like that around every 2 weeks. the one last night put out 150,000 homes. about 2 months ago we lost power for 4 days and nights. granted i only have 5 reptiles, but they were all up by the fire.

That ice storm put over 1,000,000 people w/o power in kentucky. Some people just got their power on last week.

I am sure you have it rougher in Maine, but are probably better prepared for it.

I know i will be...I picked up a generator in knoxville, since that was the closest place i could find one...but it is powerful enough to run my entire house at full capacity.
