Boa Constrictor Found In Couch!
I was watching the news for New York (Where i live) and i saw this report come up about a 4 foot red tailed boa constrictor found in a couch, in Brooklyn, New York! I read up on a lot of the articles and they said that boas are Illegal to own in NYC!?!?!?!?! Either they need to get their facts straight or reptiles shops and i have been breaking the law for a long time. Im gonna say they need to get their facts straight. Another thing i find Extremely IGNORANT is the part that states "Invades" home, as in the article from the first link below. A harmless animal like that boa can't "INVADE" someones house. It was simply curious and looking for a tight, warm place to hide in. This animal is currently in a shelter... and... I want to adopt it! :D I mean, it is a BEAUTIFUL Boa! look at the article from the second link to see a really nice picture of it.
Here are a few links to the articles in which the story/stories are told:

Re: Boa Constrictor Found In Couch!
I like the part that says they can get up to 14 ft long. Don't they only go up to 8?
I can't find anything that says new york has a ban on boas and pythons. They seem pretty convinced there is.
Re: Boa Constrictor Found In Couch!
Oddly enough, i don't mind this tell too bad. No extreme horror story. The kids seemed to have kept their cool when telling the story, no adding to the horrible snake wrap too much. I'd like someone from NY or with knowledge of the laws there to step in and confirm on the illegal issue.
Re: Boa Constrictor Found In Couch!
If the snake in the pic is it then what a find she/hes gorgeous. Heck I don't even find change in my couch.

Actually you cannot own them in the city limits. I learned that from animal cops new york lol. Sow it on an episode with a rtb that a guy was giving up cus he had to move and the so called reptile expert said it was a burmese python :rofl::rofl::rofl:

Re: Boa Constrictor Found In Couch!
These stories always crack me up.. I watch specials on animal planet and stations like that all the time that show a python when they are talking about a boa. They always make them sound sooooo vicious and like they are out to get everyone. I get a good chuckle out of it, we are MUCH smarter!!! Ha ha....;)
Re: Boa Constrictor Found In Couch!
Boas and Pythons are illegal in city limits. That is true.
Not in the state of New York, just NYC.
Re: Boa Constrictor Found In Couch!
OMG! They have the exact same couch as me! Why can't this happen to me???

According to witnesses, the boa was "staring and waiting for someone to eat." Gothamist has the roundup on the presumed escaped pet, including a nod to a theory they're floating over at the Daily News: that the four-foot killer reptile found its way into the home through the toilet. Good luck getting to sleep tonight, kids!
I don't think this helps peoples views on snakes at all

They also seem to think that the snake came in through the toilet. I wouldn't put much stock in what these guys say about anything.

Not just a snake, but a KILLER snake. O_o "That the four-foot killer reptile found its way into the home through the toilet." What the hell? She was probably half-frozen. Yeah. There's a killer for you. O_o Morons.
Re: Boa Constrictor Found In Couch!
"""They (The cops) asked if we wanted it back. The kids wanted it, but no way," Bennett said, shaking her head"".
Why do moms have to ruin the fun? LOL
Re: Boa Constrictor Found In Couch!
That is too bad....that is a beautiful boa...looks like a pastel from the pic. :( Wish my couch magically produced boas...
Re: Boa Constrictor Found In Couch!
About the toilet thing....
A snake would only have to swim a few inches through the toilet's P-trap. The sewer line itself only has a bit of water along the bottom of it. Here's a cross section of a modern low-flow toilet to give you an idea of what the snake encountered.

"According to witnesses" - those witnesses were seven year old boys!! Really, what has journalism come to nowadays?
It is a gorgeous snake, and I am glad that it's not being euthanized and is getting sent to a sanctuary! What a relief to hear a happy ending for once.
