Moving to a new home.

I am planning on moving to a new house next weekend. My BP (Apollo) has his feedings on Monday's. I've only had him for a week, so he's only had one feeding. I don't know if I should feed him on Monday, and then move him on Friday. Or, should I wait and feed him the Monday after we move. I just want it to be as stressfree as possible. He's going to have the same cage, just a different house. He's only a baby, and I haven't had him weighed just yet. Any help would be great!! :(

feed him monday. by friday he will probably just be hungry again anyways. he will be ok.

usualy 48H after a feeding you can handle or move your snake.

I wouldn't feed him until 1 week after moving into your new place. You don't want to feed him and then have him regurge because of the stress of being moved.

Edit: Normal handling is usually fine after 48 hours but moving into a new house with all the vibrations, being jostled around, etc is a horse of a different color. I would prefer to be safer than sorry. Regurgitations are tolling on a snakes digestive system.

That's great! This is my first baby. I've done a lot of research on them, but book smarts only get you so far. Sometimes, I just doubt myself.

Well, you guys were supposed to agree on an outcome :) I supposed its better to be safe than sorry. There might be a lot of people around, and I didn't want him being hungry. It's probably best to wait, and keep him away from too much commotion.

well when i took my BP home, the breeder fed him infront of me to show me it wasnt a problem feeder. waited for about 45 min and then he crawled into a home made container hide which i used to take him home packed in a foam lined box. he was ok and no regurge. but i suppose better safe then sorry is right.

im going to venture off and say that you should be alright, but it would probally be better to feed sunday night. even on monday evening thats still well over 72 hours! or you can just wait if your real worried

Sounds like he is in good hands already. I like to wait 48 hrs before handling, its tempting sometimes, but you must wait. LOL. If the setup is the same then the only adjusting will be to the temps as this will change for a bit. I say continue with your feeding plans, keep in mind not to feed close to the move and he will do just fine. Good luck and happy herping :gj:...

From what i have heard it isn't unusual for a snake to take a meal after being moved around. We have brought home some smaller snakes from a breeder friend who says they just don't eat reagularly yet, and everytime we get one of those home we offer food. I think all but maybe one took a meal. The only thing you can do is try if he is really bothered by the move he is going to turn it down. If he isn't then he will probably take the meal without a problem. I wouldn't be to worried either way.

Personally I agree with Rich but then I'm known to always go a bit conservative on this stuff. I'd far rather let the snake have that week to settle in after the bouncing around of a move and then do a feeding than take even the smallest risk of a regurge from stress. I'd do his regular feed on Monday, move that weekend and then leave the snake completely alone for a week then feed that next Monday - but that's just me and my ways.

Remember these snakes are ambush predators, designed by nature to deal with irregular mealtimes. Missing a week is no major deal to them at all.
