What an animal can live though....
I knew that your guys would understand my frustration, so heres a bit of a rant about a friend (if I can call him that) of mine.
A guy I have known for a while as well as worked with for over a year, has owned a normal adult male ball-python for a few years. It lived at his parent's house because he had moved in with his girlfriend and her parents and they wouldn't let him bring it.
So not the end of the world right? Well his parents didn't care at all about the snake, and he would pop by once a month to turn the lamp on for a few hours and give it some water (yes, once a month). And every few months he would force feed the ball python a rat.
After hearing all of this I did my best to convince him to let me care for the snake so it would at least live. But he was reluctant and didn't want to "lose his baby". So I couldn't push him into it anymore than I had so I did my best to give him tips on how to get the snake to eat by correcting the snakes environment.
So this week he tells me his recently purchased scorpion died, and then a few days later his ball python died with the snakes upper half of the body sitting rigid straight up and down. He said he has seen it stargazing when he had visited it.
This snake lived for 3 years in a glass tank with a lamp turned on once a month, and a water bowl. It just makes me so sick to know that anyone thinks that it is o.k to treat any animal like this. I have no one to express my sheer sadness of the situation to with exception to all of you here, so I just wanted to share it. Thanks for listening.

Poor thing. Oh well not much can be done to convince some people that they are in the wrong. I bet it was a pretty snake too. Seems all the snakes I have seen on here froom rescues and what not are all very gorgeous. And no not all bp's are pretty I have a female that is hideous. lol. But shes my ugoh. lol. I think I am going to go and bug her now :)

Terrible news.
That's one of my biggest pet peeves. If you can't afford it or don't have the time or desire to care for it. Don't do it.

It would not do any good slapping him in the back of the head since its obvious he has no morals concerning a living creature :(.I know of a "person" (if you can call him that) that has a ball python, turtle and some type of frog living together .I have spent hours trying to inform him his 3 reptiles DO NOT love each other :mad:.Sometimes i wish i could place people like this inside of a cage with a lion and a water buffalo so they can love one another :rofl:.

Who said anything about a mere slap upside the head? When I am met with things like this, my morals towards people of this calibre are about equal to the morals they have towards their animals.

Re: What an animal can live though....
Thanks a tonne for the responses everyone. I was at work when he told me and it really put me off, and nobody understood why it bothered me so much. I asked him if he was going to buy anymore reptiles (since he got a new apartment) and he said probably. I told him I could get him some "sweet" set-ups for cheap and I would even do it for him. He wasn't interested. Go figure. So then I laid it on him a little more about animals not being disposable like that but he didn't really care.
