    First get a burlap sack.

Then get a brick or large rock.

You'll need about 18 inches of twine or thick string.

Put brick or rock in sack.

    Place cat in sack.

    Tie sack closed.

Toss into handy pond, stream or any deep body of water.

I guarantee there will be no further cat urine smell.

    Not from that cat anyway.

*snort* HAH! I know some cats who would benefit from that.

Try that Nature's Miracle or the orange Nature's Miracle from PMart. Should work fine. Baking soda and vinegar do okay. Maybe see if Resolve makes a pet odor remover.

you can make it so YOU can't smell it
but you'll never make it so the cat can't smell it.
unless you're like me and cut a large area out of the rug with a box cutter.

my cat is senile and long story short we have no carpets left in our house. the day she dies I'm going to the rug store and spend a bundle.

either that or burn the house down and start over.

The Nature's Miracle works pretty well.

I also read somewhere that cats don't like the feel of aluminum foil on their feet, so if where they peed is out of the way, you can cover it with aluminum foil for a while after it has been cleaned. Mine peed under the bathroom counter, and I cleaned it (a million and a half times it seemed like), they peed again, cleaned it again and I put foil on top of the spot this time. It didn't keep them completely off of it (if they were spazy they would still run under there) but they haven't gone to the bathroom under there since...and I have long since gotten rid of the foil.

nature's miracle is about your best bet. you are going to need some sort of Enzyme cleaner to get it out. After you clean using that, i suggest using some non-diluted white vinegar. it will remove the scent so that the cats won't see it as a marked location any longer.

Well last night I used a mixture of white vinegar and baking soda and the smell is not as bad.

    Very faint matter a fact.

I'm going to hit it again for 2 more nights to see how it works out.

Thanks 2 everyone for their suggestions. :gj:

    +1

Grew up with cats and the smell does not go away. Get a new house and leave the cat behind.

    Did that work?
A good pet cleaner will help with that for sure...and...this sounds wierd and it won't work with every cat but...

My male cat was peeing on things before we got him fixed...well I would clean it with a spot remover, get as much out as possible and then Febreeze it. Well he hated the Febreeze. Hates it!

So now when he's into things he shouldn't be, I spray it! LOL Not only does it take the smell away for me, it keeps him out of things.

Of course, my cat is crazy. But finding something they don't like will help. I've heard the aluminum foil trick works well too!

another good trick for stopping a cat from going places it shouldn't, is set a few mousetraps and set them trap side down and place a sheet of newspaper over that. they step on the paper which sets off the traps, they make a LOT of noise and scare the cat away. by putting them trap side down the cats won't accidentally get snapped. do this a few times and they will stop going there. good way to get them to stay off counter tops.

I've tried natures miracle. I used it to wash my carpet in the (back then ferret room), omg the smell it left while the enzymes were working smelled worse than the carpet before it was shampood. but once it dried and aired out it worked well.

But my favorite enzyme based smell remover is by farrrrrrrrr pure ayre. i swearrrrr by that! my ex brought another cat into the home several yrs ago, and my cat didnt like that at all. they started having peeing contests... the pure ayre completely killed the smell and they NEVER went back to that spot.

i use all the time and guarantee you wouldnt regret trying it. some petcos sell it but i usually buy it online. i actually have to order a gallon of it because the rescue GSD who is very old has been peeing all over. i will NEVER use natures miracle again, no offense to anyone but its crap compared to how well pure ayre works.

go to this site and read why the "others" don't work as well as this product. And it has a super light fresh minty smell when first applied.
