I have had some problems gettin an accurate humidity to keep my jcp at so I just have been keepin it around 55 to 60. I was wondering if anybody out there can tell me what has worked well for them.

Re: Humidity?
With it that low from their natural habitat internal hydration is key. Make sure he/she is drinking water and mist them lightly because they will drink off of themselves.

Re: Humidity?
what percent humidity would you use?

Re: Humidity?
Remember humidity cycles are VERY important. This means it's foggy then dries up. I use anywhere from 60 to 90 percent at any given part of the day. I use tubs which are awesome with humidity! I mist every couple of days but the tub rains down on it self and drys out whatever hits the hot end. Like I said though, 55% is okay as long as the snake is drinking water. Best indicator of proper husbandry is the shed. If it's one piece you're probably doing it right. How are you reading you humidity? Dial gauge on the side of the tank or digital?

Re: Humidity?
My humidity is always around 60-75 ish, and I've only had one shed with him but it was fragmented. But I believe this was because I got him when he was in shed... so he was shipped and put in a new environment.
He's in shed right now, I'm quite excited :)

Re: Humidity?
Well my snake is fixin to shed for the first time since i have had it. I'm using a digital gauge on the side its suppose to be a pretty good one i have one in each of my snake cages.

Re: Humidity?
yeah when i first bought my snake it had just went through a bad shed at the pet store that took a little time to get corrected.but he is just fixing to go through his first one with me and im hoping for way better results

Re: Humidity?
Shed really is the best indicator IMO.

Re: Humidity?
Anthony Caponetto says he rarely sprays his cages at all, and he lives in Kentucky... pretty dry winters.
He firmly believes (according to his website) humidity isn't a big deal with carpets at all.

Re: Humidity?
He was the first one who made me believe internal hydration is the key.
However, you must remember he's using cages designed to hold humidity in for a while and not a screen top. Not sure of the OP's set up but even though AC lives in an arid place it's not too bad in those cages.

Re: Humidity?
Yeah i live in tennessee pretty close to kentucky pretty much like one county away so the weather is pretty much the same well thanks for the help maybe this shed will go good and ill know what to do or stop doin

Re: Humidity?
My cages have screen tops but under those i have a glass top and plastic ends that i can move to help raise or lower the humidity it actually works pretty well

Re: Humidity?
Yeah I have cages identical to Anthony's, except mine are 24" tall... He's the first one I heard of that was talking about internal hydration...
