pastels questions
i have two pastels one being a reg. pastel (boy) and the other a blonde pastel (girl). ive been told i would get 25% might be super, 50% being pastel, and 25% being normal. is that correct??
now as far as the normals go do they carry the pastel gene. for instance would the normal be 100% pastel het normal
sorry just really confused people say this people say that

Yes, that is correct. Each egg from a Pastel x Pastel clutch would have a 25% chance of being a Super Pastel, a 50% chance of being a Pastel, and a 25% chance of being Normal.

No. The Pastel gene is co-dominant. A normal has 0 allels for the Pastel gene. A Pastel has 1 allel for the Pastel gene, technically making it heterozygous for Super Pastel. Since the Pastel trait is co-dominant, though, the Heterozygous form (Pastels) are visually different than both Normals and the Homozygous form (Super Pastels). A Super Pastel carries 2 allels for the Pastel gene, making it the Homozygous form. A snake will give one of each of its allels to its offspring. Because of this, a Super Pastel (pp) bred to a Normal (NN) will produce all Pastels (Np) since no matter which allel it gets from the Super Pastel and which allel it receives from the Normal, it will always receive one Pastel allel (p) and one Normal allel (N).
Hopefully this makes sense.

There would not be any normal
Super Pastel X Patel = 50% Super Pastel + 50% Pastel

I would not be getting a super from a pet store. You'll pay probably double in price, and I would not be convinced I would be getting a super and not just a pastel.

I think he is thinking is going to sell super pastels to a petstore. If that is the case, good luck finding any petstores to buy super pastels.

i should be able to get a nice super pastel for around $1,000 for a female and i seen males for $800
i just started a payment plan for an 07 female super pastel for $1,000
you would have better luck selling them on the internet then to a pet store because they pay wholesale prices not what the snake is worth

A local guy in my area is selling a super Pastel Female for $700. I didn't like the look so I passed. You just have to look and the deals are out there. Just have to verify you are getting something you really want. I have my ideas about what makes a super pastel high quality and what makes it low quality and this one definately fell into the low quality area for me.

Re: pastels questions

-
Re: pastels questions
Pretty sure you have a juvie pastel female, so she will not be ready to breed by next season.

-
Re: pastels questions
I have no idea what "swingin and bangin" is refering to, but if she is in her water bowl, I would get some PAM and switch your substrate to paper towels.
-
Re: pastels questions
swingin an bangin have you heard of chopped and screwed rap music??? never heard of the dirty south the third coast Paul Wall does that ring a bell
Pam why pam shes not in there anymore since i changed out her bedding

Don't be "to lasy" to find stuff out please. Breeding is a big committment of your time, the snake's energy, etc. Do your work up front and know what you need to. It'll pay off in the end result of healthy hatchlings you can actually try to sell. :)

Translate properly please. What exactly is your snake doing?
-
Re: pastels questions
well she was just laying her water bowl all day then when the light go off thes get activitve like normal. i changed her bedding and she hasn't been in the bowls since then
-
Re: pastels questions
One reason a BP will spend all day in a water bowl is if they have mites. They get under water and only leave thier nostrils out to drown the mites. If your bowl is white, you will see the drowned mites in the water(tiny black specks the size a grains of salt). If that is the problem, Provent-a-mite will solve it.
As far as selling to pet stores, if you live near a store that deals in high end morphs, it is convenient(fast sale and no shipping involved), but they generally only pay about half or less of what you could sell them for yourself. They have to make a profit.
If you are wondering what a breeder size female looks like, the BP in my avatar is 2000 grams. 1500 grams looks just slightly smaller.

Re: pastels questions
im not worried about it that much 100 bucks is a 100 bucks and if it comes free then dang ill make a 100 bucks. but really i wouldn't let a super go for a 100 maybe 6 for a male and 7 or 8 ffor a female that if i can get that much but will see in 2 years
