For reference, the screwdriver is about 7.2 inches long.

Re: Alice
May I ask about your feeding schedule and what you feed her? She looks pretty thin. Beautiful snake otherwise though!

Re: Alice
I just got her on Friday. Fed her a mouse yesterday. Thinking of another in 4 or 5 more days. She's still a baby and was shedding when I obtained her though.

Re: Alice
She has a nice black back on the last half of her body which looks cool!!! Now that she is in a good home you just need to fatten her up bit :D

If the screwdriver is 7.2 inches long, then the snake is just over 31 inches long (based on a computerized "snake measurer" program). The average size for a hatchling ball python would be closer to 16 - 18 inches (roughly). Growth rates vary greatly among ball pythons, and a lot depends on feeding. It appears that your snake has been underfed for a considerable length of time, so it would be pretty much impossible to come up with an accurate age based on length. However, I would GUESS at least a year old. If you wish to feed mice, I would suggest 1 mouse a week for a couple weeks, then give 2 mice (one at a time) a week for a couple weeks, then maybe bump up to 3. A good rule of thumb is to feed 10% of the snake's body weight. A better option might be to feed her small rats (still once per week). As thin as she is though, and since you are already feeding mice, I'd still go with 1 mouse a week for a couple weeks, then 2, then go with the small rats. Give her a chance to build up her gut flora before feeding too heavily (if she hasn't eaten in a long time, a large meal could be a very bad thing).
Best of luck!

I got to thinking - as thin as the snake is, I don't think there's any way it could have grown to that length in one year. She's probably 2 - 3 years old at least.

Re: Alice
Steve, what program did you use to calculate the snakes age? I would love to do that for my guy, I adopted him from a reptile rescue so I don't know how old he is.

reaxion07,
The program is "Snake Measurer" and I think it may even be available for download on this site. If not, just google it. BUT!!! It doesn't calculate age, it calculates length. Age cannot be calculated without simply knowing when the snake hatched. I did a fair amount of assuming when I said 2 - 3 years, based on how thin the snake is and how long it is. The truth is, the snake COULD be 20 years old. No way of knowing.

Re: Alice
Actually, I measured her just now. She's about 24 or 25 inches. I must have mis-measured the screw driver in haste ( it is back in my father's tool box now, locked. So referencing at this time is impossible. He's sleeping, you see... ). And I did not mean immediate hatchling when I said "baby". Nonetheless, if she had been underfed before, she won't be anymore. She's in good hands, assuredly.

Re: Alice
I must also add that she's quite active and loves to explore. She doesn't seem sickly at all from how she behaves. But I will take care to feed her regularly.

If any of you are curious "AlbeltheWicked" is a dude. He's my boyfriend, but he likes pics of girls that look like neonazis. He likes japanese metal singers that dress up like women, he can be a real queer but he's still cute.

Good luck with her, shes beautiful looking. I hope she fattens up nicely.
You may want to get her checked for internal parasites from a vet though. Just bring in a fresh fecal matter (put it in the fridge when you find it) and they can do a test that costs 20 bucks or so. :]
