    My baby Karma
Hello to everyone by the way...I'm new here :D

This is my baby and the love of my life: Karma  I bought her in the beginning of last May. I only had my corn snake Aurora at the time and I didn't really want to get another snake. One of my friends had a ball python and I thought it was cool but I didn't really want one. Until, that is, I happened to stop by the local pet store one day and saw a tank full of tiny ball pythons. I had never seen a baby ball before and was absolutely enchanted. I still wasn't sure I actually wanted to get one though, but I asked if I could hold one. As soon as they opened the top, one of them came slithering right over and crawled onto my hand and then just laid there. She seemed to be staring up at me and was so cute. It was all over after that :aww:

She was only about 8 in long when I bought her, and even though I know now that I could have bought something like her at an expo for probably about $25...she was worth all $80 that I paid. She is the perfect snake and such a sweetheart. She seems to love being held and I don't think she has a mean bone in her body. She is now around 2 feet long and doing wonderfully. I don't care that she is "just a normal" :P She has gorgeous blushings, flames and gold sides and some interesting markings. To me she is just as beautiful as a spider or an albino :) so anyway...I'll stop rambling. Here she is, along with pics of her pattern and markings

gotta say pet stores do have some amazing looking normals....though sometimes they might not be the best kept.

Thank you!!!! :D I know I love normals!! I think they are terribly under-rated by a lot of people. I mean I love all of the different designer morphs too and I wish I could afford some...but I've actually had other ball python people who look down on me because I only have a normal. I'm sure that wouldn't happen on a forum like this...but one kid I knew had a mojave and a spider and when I told him about Karma he was like "oh" and walked away  I mean god...just because I didn't spend $400 on my snake makes her inferior or something???

*sigh* sorry for ranting. All of you seem very nice and I didn't mean anything against you guys. I know all of you have at least one normal in your collections. It's just that...I love drooling over designer morphs like pieds and bees as much as the next person...but normals can be just as beautiful in my opinion :)

I know, I got lucky and I probably would not buy from a pet store again. I think one of the things that helped is that the store had only just gotten her and her siblings the day before, so they hadn't had time to deteriorate. The store seemed like it treated their animals okay considering...but I'm glad I got her out of there because when I went back a week later, the cage was much dirtier than it should have been

Oh! What big eyes she has~ How cute! She has some nice orange on her too. :D She's very pretty.

Welcome to the forum, I'm new too, you sound a lot like me though. I always though a cornsnake would be my first snake, but I got a job at petco (no longer working there though) and in the ball python tank there was one remaining, and I saw her each day I worked there, no one was buying her and I was falling in love with her so I eventually gave in and bought her. :D And I paid a lot for her although she was on sale and I got a discount cause I worked there, but I wouldn't trade her for a 89465438 dollar snake or anything else. I totally understand how you feel about her. ^^

Thanks!! :D You should have seen her when I bought her. Seemed like almost her whole head was just eyes :aww: that's one reason I couldn't resist her haha

Ball pythons are one of the easiest snakes to get attached to I think. Every time I go into a pet store I always have to go and look at the snakes and if there's a ball I always spend at least 15 minutes looking at it and talking to it :P (even though I know they can't hear me). Just something about them that I love now. I love my corn too but for some reason Karma is closer to my heart.

Agree 100% :D Glad to meet someone else that understands how special just a simple normal can be :)

Three years ago - that same kid wouldn't have been able to afford a mojave or spider most likely.

I do have morphs too - but normals come in so many varying shades and patterns that they are beautiful in their own right. A really nice normal will make me stop and take notice just as much as any morph!

They're ALL awesome - just with different paint jobs!

Exactly!! :) I mean, there's a lot of variation in every morph...but some normals can be absolutely crazy!! And they are, after all, the one that started it all :P That last line's a great way to put it too and I completely agree

    ^_^ Welcome!

I only have one BP, and she is of course a normal. I`m in love with her with all my little heart. I work in a small company that deals with dogs and cats, so I dont make alot of money. So I also spend hours and hours on these forums and others looking at beautiful morphs, drooling and wishing I could ever afford one with my low pay and school loans.
But at the end of the day, when I look over to my lovely Sprinkles tank I'm very glad I have her, and wouldn't trade her for any other snake.

Ditto on the low pay and school loans. So frustrating :(

I love what you said about looking over and being happy when you see your snake. Very touching and I feel the same way. No matter how bad of a day I've had...holding Karma always makes me feel better. I wouldn't trade her for anything either :)

    Love your avatar too :D
