Pimples?
I have a question, i recently bought a wc gravid (please no anti import hate comments, thank you!) and she seems to have pimples..ive been researching online and i tihnk it may have been due to mite bites, IM reserching online trying to find the closest herp vet, but i want some advice im wondering if this happens because of mite bites, when she came in she had 2 dead mites, and havent seem any since...so is this the result of old mite bites?
Is it something i should be really worried about?

Re: Pimples?
i would say yeah!
i dont think snakes get pimples.they could be blisters, illergic reaction to somthing or a number of things.
get it to a vet to avoid loss of an investment

Re: Pimples?
Well they are like blisters more i guess.. jus like opaque puss filled bumps. is that a blister??
-
Re: Pimples?
Sounds kinda like you're talking about water blisters.

Re: Pimples?
no pics?even a camera phone?
-
Re: Pimples?
I am sure that you already have isolated her from your other reptiles, but just in case you have her in with others in the same room - put her into quarantine immediately. Don't know what the blisters are / are not, but they sound unpleasant

Re: Pimples?
Yeah...i'd like to see some pics too.

Re: Pimples?
You need to get your bp to a herp vet ASAP. Puss filled bumps are definitely not a good thing.
If you saw dead mites on her you also need to treat her for mites and be very careful about quarantining her away from the rest of your collection. If there were dead mites on her, chances are there are eggs on her, and you don't want to wake up one day and find her covered in freshly hatched mites.

Re: Pimples?
treated her for mites, my camera phone pics are worthless. there barely visible unless your really close, not cuz ther small cuz there see through...water blisters?? whats that?
and i have in my room while my others are in the living room.

heres a pic
best i could do. they are on her head and she does soak a lot cuz (well i think ) she has two dead mites in the crevese of her eyes. so i assume they bother her but shes blue right now so hopefully when she sheds theyll go away.
havent seen any more ticks (i think i said mites before, i always jus say mites)
since i treated her twice with the solution i got with her.

Re: Pimples?
That looks nasty. Get her to a vet and QT to the extreme.
As far as pimples... you need a sweat/oil gland to get a pimple, so no... not pimples.
-
Re: Pimples?
So it was dead ticks she had, not mites? Ticks might be more likely to leave a mark like that after they are removed due to the irritation of the skin. I still think a herp vet would be the best bet.

Re: Pimples?
yea they were ticks. my bad i always say mites. but they were ticks,

Re: Pimples?
I did some research on water blisters, and she does knock over her water bottle every time i clean her cage, im constantly cleaning it but i might of missed one or two times where she might of been on wet paper for a day, could this be a cause?
im still taking her to the vet, jus curious?

No, knocking her water bowl over has nothing to do with what's going on with her, if you have the blue chlorhexidine solution, give her a soak in it (dilute it of course) daily intil you get her to the Reptile Vet.

Re: Pimples?
She wouldn't have been laying with her head upside down against the bottom of her enclosure, so it seems unlikely that those could be water blisters. One day of wet paper should not cause harm to a healthy bp.

she is in her water bowl a lot tho,(i assume) because she has two dead ticks in the crevese of her eyes that irritate her..didnt know if that would be a cause of the blisters...but thank you!
im off monday so its vet day for me n my girl
i hope its nothing a few treatments of whatever the vet will give me wont fix.

Re: Pimples?
Well, the sooner you go, the sooner you'll find out.
Good luck

Re: Pimples?
OK different topic same subject
like i said she has dead ticks in her eye, or at least i think there dead...there like pale and havent moved since i had her, i wanted to take me out but didnt wanna go near her eye with a tweezer, once she sheds they should go away right?? Or is there a chance their alive?? it looked like 2 pale scales in her eye.

Re: Pimples?
The vet should take care of that for you. All WCs should see one anyways even if they appear completely healthy.
-
Re: Pimples?
i was gonna take her to the vet, but i thought i should take her after she lays as she is gravid and assumed itd be better to have a fecal sample, but imma take her to get this checked out.
thank you all for your help!
this site is dope

Re: Pimples?
Yep, I'd get the vet to remove those for you since they are next to her eye.
As far as the soaking--it isn't normal for them to soak so much. That can be a sign of mites (whether you actually see them or not), so tell the vet about that as well.

Re: Pimples?
will do.
I guess the herp vet here in tucson is really really good, ive read bout him on a few different websites...says hes "internationally recognized" or something, so im sure my snakes will be in good hands!

Do not wait until after she lays - her health is of the utmost importance - keep your appointment tomorrow.

Re: Pimples?
take her to the vet asap, getting her healthy before she lays is important :)
