    Enchi?
I bought this 'enchi' from Gie, a professional breeder from reptile express in belgium. But, a did get several comments that my enchi probable is not a enchi.
Here are some pics. Please tell me what you think of my ball python. Enchi or not?

    Re: Enchi?
I'm sorry, but in those pictures, it does not look like an enchi. It also doesnt have the orange and pixelated look to it. Also, it is quite dark, but that isn't a disqualifier. Maybe some over top pictures, none of you holding him, so we can see his whole body, instead of just sections.

I think the jury is still out for me anyways... It could be a poor example of an enchi.

For comparison, this is our enchi...

    Re: Enchi?
I would say it is an Enchi based primarily on a combination of the orange on it's lower sides, belly pattern and eyes. The dorsal and lateral areas are not very Enchi-ish, but I can see enough to suggest Enchi. A little on the dark side though.

So I would say yes it is an Enchi, obviously not the best example of the morph, but an Enchi none the less. I hope that helps you.

    Honestly,

    I find it tough.

In pics 2 and 3 he has that place where the dark bleeds into the orange, the reduced patterning and banding.

None are great examples of the morph, but it may be a low grade enchi that is just dark enough to question it.

Also where you have flames, the flaming has a burgundy tint coming up from teh belly.

    Really a tough one. :(

Here is one of mine as a comparison.

    Re: Enchi?
Can you contact the breeder and ask for pics of the parents?

If, as you say, he is well-known, then selling a non-enchi as an enchi is really not in his best interest.

If it is an enchi its not a very nice one, I'm leaning towards no.

Can all you Enchi owners post some pics of the belly of your Enchi. Iīm one of the guys who said it isnīt an Enchi primarely based on the belly pattern. I have an Enchi here and his belly looks like this:

    Re: Enchi?
did you get papers with it? I realize the breeder could also be untruthful with papers but at least it would be something else you could use to plead your case if it is in fact not an enchi which I cannot tell my eye is not trained yet. it does look alot like one of my darker males though and a similar belly pattern.

It doesnt look like an enchi to me, so if it is, it really is a poor example of one, and I hope you didnt pay top dollar enchi for it.

I cant believe all of the yes's. That is not an enchi. The belly gives it away 100% it is also to dark and does not have the correct coloration.

    Re: Enchi?
I am still sticking with a lower grade enchi... have you contacted the breeder for confirmation, or pics of the parents?

Also I would ask how it was produced....

Super enchi x enchi, normal x enchi, etc... etc...

There is a chance that the breeder got a normal, that looks enchi-ish.

OR if he/she bred a super to something then you are guaranteed you actually do have an enchi.

This same discussion has come up for lower grade Yellowbellies. Unless it came from breeding a super to a normal, then there can always be a bit of doubt.

There are no het enchi's or possible het enchi's though. An enchi IS a visible het for super enchi.

The overall pattern, thin eye stripes and color of the head don't look right to me. I'd say very nice normal.
