NFL Draft...who do you have as top 3?
Well it's around the corner...I am just curious to see who people think the top 3 picks will be? This will probably change after the combine.. :)

Here are my top 3, whether I agree with them or not, this is how I think it will unwind as of now...

    1. Lions- Matt Stafford, QB Georgia
    2. Rams- Eugene Monroe, OT Virginia
    3. Chiefs- Aaron Curry, OLB Wake Forest. However, I think if the new GM Scott Pioli runs his draft operations the same as he did in New England, I think he will trade down for more picks. The team to trade up will grab Mark Sanchez.

The lions better not take a QB...Mr. Smith for me.

yep... now way will they draft a QB.

    my take:

    Lions - Andre Smith

    Rams - Michael Curry

    Chiefs - Mark Sanchez

    yep!

I think you'll be surprised. Kitna is old, Culpepper is beat up and Orlovsky and Stanton really have no business being a NFL starter. To all lion's fans, I'm really sorry, but you're team is screwed for a few more years. There are too many holes in this team. O-line, QB, Defense, another back to share the load with Smith, and another good WR are all needs for this team. I don't know what the lion's will do and I wouldn't pick a Qb with the #1 pick...but I think they will.

a few years? we've been screwed for a while. i'm really hoping Cassel will decide he doesn't want to play second fiddle to brady and we can pick him up along with that kid from georgia in the first round. That way the kid can back up a good QB and not get thrown to the sharks. Barring that i wouldn't be opposed to them picking up Kurt Warner, he has a few more good years in him. Kitna is done, they've been planning on trading him since midway through the season. Culpepper is way past his prime. he was known for being a scrambler and well.. he can't scramble anymore.

Ideally i'd like to see them use the first round picks to get some decent guards. then a good center. our current center is way too small. he's like 6'2 220lb. he should be a TE not a center. i don't care how much heart the kid has, he needs to go.

I knew you've been screwed for a few years...I was saying a few more. But there's no way you'll be able to afford Cassell and Stafford. Plus the Pats will probably throw the franchise tag on Cassell

I agree with the Lion wont be afford Cassel AND Stafford...but I dont think they will place the franchise tag on Cassel, it would cost the Pats about $14.65 Million....I am thinking that is just a weee bit more than the Pats want to spend on a backup....I bet they will have to let him go in the FA market.

thing about it is, is that nobody knows if Brady will be ready for the start of next year. At this point in time it's impossible to tell and everybody that knows anything about football knows that the Pats won't tell a single bit of truth about it. Who knows though, but my money is on Cassell staying in New England for another year.

Oh I know...Scott Pioli is running my team now...Chiefs fans were left completely in the dark regarding Herm's status...and now that he is gone, we now know nothing about HC prospects...sure Haley, Cowher, and Shannahan's name are floating around...but those are all rumors.

AND adding to the way the Pats run their organization...I dont see them spending big money on a backup...Brady has been reported taking snaps and dropping back. I think he will be back by the regular season...but anyway...look at Asante Samuel? They let him go...They also let go Willie McGinest...Adam Vinateri. These are names that you would have expected the Pats to resign...none of these player were bench players either.

I have been reading a lot about how the Pats run their organization, so I can better understand what Scott Pioli may be doing with the Chiefs. From what I have learned is yes...they hold their business close to their chest, not allowing any info to leak. But they also do not spend big money on players...unless your name is Tom Brady.

I would be SHOCKED if they gave a probable back up over $14 million. I suspect they will make him an offer...but I think in the end he will be starting for a different team.

If they DID franchise tag him...that would make him the 6th highest paid player in the NFL, putting him right in front of.....Asante Samuel. ;)

I don't see Cassel in a Patriots Uni next season. :salute:

.....NO! We don't need a QB! Thigpen did fine considering he had no OL. We need a linebacking core! :)

It's interesting how all of these Mock Drafts have the Lions and Chiefs taking QB's...but if you speak with the fans, no one wants a QB in the first round...

You can thank the lions for that. a lot of players that were going to enter the draft, decided not to at the last minute because of how many draft picks Detroit is getting. they are all scared of being drafting by my terrible team.

thats ok though, i'd rather die a lions fan then spend 1 year as a cowboys fan.

Im not so sure about this, yes I am a Georgia fan, but I am kinda pissed at Stafford for leaving early, so I am not just pledging my allegiances here. I think it is going to take Stafford a year or maybe two to show his full talents in the NFL, but I do think that Matthew Stafford is going to make an awesome pro quarterback in a year or two. I do think he would have faired better playing his senior season at UGA but I don't think Detroit can afford to pass on him even though he came out a year too early in my opinion. Detroit does need to beef up their line, but I just don't think you take the chance to beef up the line with the number one pick and pass up on the caliber quarterback that I think Matthew Stafford will be in the NFL. Personally I think he is going to make a better pro quarterback than a college QB, just my two cents. Again, not pledging allegiances, I would much rather have him here for the next year.

They really couldn't afford not to imo...The risk of Brady not being ready and not having a QB that knows the system would be just too great and I couldn't imagine what Bellicheck would do if he didn't make the playoffs 2 years in a row. I do think Cassell will get out of NE after next year though, barring another serious injury to Brady.

don't know if anyone noticed, but lions just signed culpepper to a mulityear deal and will be starting him this coming season... i can guarantee you they wont be taking stafford. they'll just look to next year's QB rich draft... or maybe take sanchez 20th if he's still around.

i stand by my prediction of them taking smith... unless someone really wants stafford or crabtree and will trade down for #1.

Smith would be the logical choice now, but who knows, they might take Crabtree. I can never tell what the Lions are about to do because most of it didn't make sense under Millan and I'm not familiar with their new GM

    we're getting closer...............

i would really like to see the lions trade #1 for jay cutler. denver doesn't want him, he doesn't want denver... seems like a fair deal to me.

then we'd have #20 for an o-line guy, a second rounder, and two third rounders.

    c'mon denver!

I would LOVE for Cutler to get out of the AFC west and head towards yalls! I love the denver drama...'gone from bad to worse!'....great! Denver wants our QB and I love it! :D

So you want to get Cutler, a qb who has gone 17-20 in the absolute worst division in football, straight up for your number 1 pick? Honestly, I wouldn't even consider that deal unless they gave me their first and or 2nd round pick as well.

cutler is better than his record lets on and he's cheaper than a #1 pick, and he's proven... so yes.

....doesn't help Cutler when he had 7 different starting RB's in a season and one of the worst D's.

Re: NFL Draft...who do you have as top 3?
Okay, I'm not really a die-hard NFL fan, but I try to keep up with it unless I want to remain an NFL-widow...

But, my opinion is, none of the 3 will be a QB. My husband argues... He thinks the Lions will get a QB. I don't think so. I think they're going to get a RB. So here's my pick:

    1.) Lions = Moreno
    2.) Rams = Monroe
    3.) Chiefs = Curry

I had Smith for the Rams, but I don't know... I think his actions at the combine will affect his draft chances.

Stafford, I think, will come out like Brady Quinn. The only one that might get a QB in the top 10 is the Jaguars. But, I thought they were going to pick a QB last year and they skipped out on Quinn. So, I think they'll skip a QB pick this year as well, opting to improve on the defense instead. Or maybe pick a WR. Hopefully, they'll get a stab at getting Tebow next year. I love that guy!

Side note: My husband is laughing at my top 3 picks... he thinks I should stick to things I know about. Hah! Bullocks. He laughed at my Fantasy roster every week last season and I won the Superbowl! So there!
