how many can i get

was wonder if i baught the freedom breed rat rack complete its
7 levels, 21 semi-clear tryas, water system, 7 attached food hoppers, gravity reservoir, base frame and casters

how many rats could i get a month with this set up right now i go through about 3600 rats a year wondering if i breed them if it would be cheaper most all my snakes eat F/T

and also what ratio per tub like 1.4 or what just wondering thanks

Well if you do 5 females in each tub im thinking about the math

- 21 tubs times 5 females in each 105 females total
- 105 females and lets say 10 pups per month thats 1050 a month
- so if you only need 3600 a year you can take it down to around
- 3 females in each tub 3X21=63
- 63 females lets say 10 pups a month from each mother
- 63X10= 630 rat pups a month

300 / 15 = 20 litters a month is needed.

40 breeders alternating each month would be good IMO.

If you have the tools on hand I would build your own. Tons cheaper and its not to hard to do.

A few racks like this one except 5 levels high would work good, I use 8 levels on my racks, depends on what size rats your need. If you need small/medium/large then I would go up to 8 levels on each to store what extra you need.

i just found Deborah's how to and i think i will take your advise and just build them my self.
Is there any good birthing rack plans anywhere?

I rotate my male and leave 3-4 females in each tub, let them grow up together also. I never have a problem doing this way. For a weaning rack I am going to do the exact same design except the larger cement tubs.

I use what I call the PB Mansion style.

You then put 1 male in the PB and add your females that you need for a weekly basis. Every week you add the weekly females. As you see them get bit put them in there own tub.

Yea its a good looking rack, mine are close to that and I was to lazy to put up pictures :P

Yup, same style we use for breeder tubs, then Deb's size tubs is our maternity rack.
