Late Clutch - DUW

So I have this girl just shy of 3500 grams who was due to lay last Thurs. 1/22 and every morning and afternoon I'm checking and no eggs:confused:
So this morning I check her at like 6 AM and no eggs, I start thinking, is this girl punking me? Have I've been bamboozled? Well at noon I check her and I see she is dropping but not quite done.

She has a very black back so I figured she would throw real dark black pastels. I hope I get a nice female black pastel :bow:

Dammit this happened to me with heathers pieds. I was there like a day before they hatched and now 2 days before yours lays. Well grats I hope I see some eggs in a few months.

Raul, congrats on three good eggs! Sorry for the slugs - I hate them! I got two last year - and it's a bummer - but you got THREE good eggs!!!!! :banana::banana:

That is 3 better than my variable kings(7= all slugs) and my Albino House(14= all large slugs) for last year.

Oh and I had 5 eggs from a normal to a pastel BP. 3 went bad and 2 survived both pastels. In 2007 I had 5 eggs from the same type of breeding = 1 dudded out, 1.3 pastels! Maybe you will get the same luck.:please:

Congrats on the eggs Raul. As for the slugs, I have a question. Has she been in a rack that has been cooled? I ask, because my theory is that she was too warm during the last 45 days before laying the eggs. I turned up my heat last year at the same time I always do, but had clutches laid later than normal. My slug count seemed to increase with the increase in temperature. This year, I plan to keep the animals cooled a bit longer, just in case we have any girls that are late.

With all of that said, I am hoping for 1.2 Black Pastel for you. Good luck.

Interesting theory Tim. I dont know if it is the case because she is in the same rack as 4 other girls who laid and I only saw 1 slug from those clutches. She is the only girl that didnt soak much, probably because she is too big to fit in the bowls I have for them, she would only put part of her body in the bowl. All my other girls completely submerse their bodies for days right before ovulation. My theory is they cool and/or hydrate that way causing better egg quality. Maybe the temp thing is right? the soaking would have caused her to be cooler. I'll take 1.2 Black pastels, thats for sure:gj:
