Mazda 3

Re: Mazda 3
It's sharp...I really like the interior. I'm a Ford guy so I have really no opinion on Mazda overall...but the interior is a selling point for me! :gj:

Re: Mazda 3
I only own Mazdas since 1993 and one GM. I've had the MX3, MX6, Protege, MPV. I have to say, I've never had problems with the Mazdas. I even had one until it hit 200,000 miles before I traded it off. Usually, I keep them until 150,000 miles before I start looking for another one. The Protege I gave to my dad at 100,000 miles and he still drives it until today. Last time I checked it had over 160,000 miles on it. There was a problem with it that made the check engine light turn on - something they said was common to Proteges. Costed $1,200 to fix! But, other than that, all my Mazdas were good. As long as you keep up with regular maintenance and take care of your car, it just keeps on going and going and going...

I'm a truck person myself, but that is a nice looking car. I'd have to agree that the interior looks very sharp. :gj:

The interior is one of the things that made me look closer at this one. I like the exterior color too. I dunno .. If the dealer can work out something that gets me where I want to be, I think we have a winner.
That may be harder that usual due to my credit history being less than stellar (not bad .. just not AWESOME) and the banks wanting to keep all their monies. I have a feeling though that is the dealer want to sell the car, they will find a way.

Oh he has a way. It's called a higher interest rate. Can you join a Credit Union? They usually offer a good rate to their members. The dealership can usually only give you a better rate when the auto companies are offering low or no interest as an incentive. It'a sharp car. It's you.

I LOVE the RX8, but there are a few things that keeps me from seeking to purchase one.
1) I am a 21yo Male. Insurance would tear me apart is I owned one.
2) The Wankle. It's a great power producing engine, but the fuel mileage and emissions would make me cringe everytime I started it up
3) I need a bit more space for people and things. I LAN, and it takes a lot of room to move my computer.
I must say though, there are few cars that I like to look at more than the RX8 (well, cars within my reach)

Re: Mazda 3
Because I live in the city and don't really need a car on a regular basis I use Zipcars. The last time I got one it was a Mazda 3. It was a nice ride and the tiptronic transmission was kinda fun to play with.

Re: Mazda 3
The Mazda 3 is a VERY sweet car. When my 1st GTI was totalled (stupid idiot driver ran a stop sign! :() I looked at the Mazda 3, only problem that it was going to take about a month to get what I wanted: i.e. a manual transmission. I didn't have a month to wait for it, so I got another GTI.
But had I been able to get a manual 3, I would have gotten it in a heart beat. My brother has a Protege5 and its been a great car for him. I say go for it, you'll really like it!

I like them :) I almost bought one but I needed more room and didn't like the hatch back version of it.

Not quite...
Some cars share a lot of parts and platforms, like the Tribute/Escape, and the B-Series/Explorer and some other sedan (MX6 and 323). But most of the other cars are completely separate. So, it depends on which Mazda/Ford car.
But with the M3, what they did is they brought the Mazda BJ platform (used by Mazda protege) and the Ford C170 platform (Ford Focus), and sent them up to Germany to get looked at by Mazda, Ford, and Volvo engineers to create a brand new platform called the C1. The C1 is now a combination of Volvo's safety features, Mazda's maneuverability (Zoom-zoom!), and Ford's cost-savings expertise. It is a really awesome platform.
The C1 platform has been in use by the M3 since 2004 and then the M6 in 2006. It is also in use by several Volvo models. For some reason, Ford has not put it in their cars yet. Well, Ford Focus is using C1 in Europe or so I heard. But for sure, nothing in the US. Ford Focus in the US is still using C170.
Anyway, this is all technogeek all intended to say the newest Mazda M3 model is a SWEET little car that is not the same as any Ford.... YET. :D

Re: Mazda 3
I didnt read through all the posts...I stared the hot RX-8 for too long...one of my fav "reality cars" (ones priced such that I may actually be able to get one if I want it someday)...as opposed to a Lotus anything...I love the Elise.
I really like Nissan 350Z's too.
