Oh I won’t, and don’t thank me. The Corps thanked me twice a month. ;)

Re: Got my marching orders.
Sheep, Wolves, and Sheepdogs
"Most of the people in our society are sheep. They are kind, gentle, productive creatures who can only hurt one another by accident."
"Then there are the wolves," the old war veteran said, "and the wolves feed on the sheep without mercy."
"Then there are sheepdogs," he went on, "and I'm a sheepdog. I live to protect the flock and confront the wolf."
Great read! More ppl should read it!
All of the cadets received this on our first day at the academy by our 1st sgt.

Re: Got my marching orders.
It is a good read, and in the most simplistic terms it is very very true. Colonel Grossman is a brilliant man. What more people need to understand is they do not have to be a cop, or in the military to be a sheepdog. They only need to make the conscious decision to arm themselves, become trained in their chosen arm (even if their chosen arm is their fist), and to be watchful, waiting on the wolf.

Re: Got my marching orders.
Congrats, though I hope the medical part of that retirement isn't too serious! Enjoy a well-deserved break from the fighting. (All of life seems to be fighting sometimes . . .)
And I'm thankin' you for your service anyway, 'cause you - _all_ of you who serve in the defense of freedom - deserve it.

Re: Got my marching orders.
Thank you for your service... I know it seams like a lot of people are anti-military but there are a whole lot more that appreciate all you do.

It's not too bad. One of the IF we were training had an ND and dorked up my leg pretty good. It healed well but I don't have any feeling below the knee. So it was either get out, or go back to doing that boring CBRN job behind a desk, or get out.

Re: Got my marching orders.
Thank you.
Thank you for your service to our country~
and Thank you for posting this so I could see all the people thanking you..........a personal tragedy recently has me feeling ashamed to call myself American considering how ungrateful and self serving it seems most of America is. It's nice to see some Americans still recognize the sacrifices made by our service men and women~ those who make it home again as well as those who do not.
So~ Thank you.
Twice~

Don't be ashamed to be called an American be ashamed that those mongrels call them self American, they attack us while Americas milk and honey drips off their chin.
There are millions of logical thinking people that LOVE this country and are forever appreciative of the sacrifice that any one in the military does to serve us and the ungrateful all the same.
I know that I am forever grateful of the sacrifice you have made my friend and welcome back to civilian life!
Slim just made this transition so he might have some pearls of wisdom when he gets on later.
Once again Thank you

Re: Got my marching orders.
Thanks again all. It is too bad that my papers will be signed by that guy, but oh well. We have survived poor POTUSs in the past, and we will likely survive this one too. But to what extent largely depends on how blindly the sheep follow him over the next four years.

Re: Got my marching orders.
Guess that means we'll see you around here more often then? :). Enjoy some well deserved rest. & I too wish to thank you for helping us all enjoy our freedom!

Re: Got my marching orders.
Typical,
When I retired last August after 23 years of service, an old friend of mine sent this quote to me, and now I pass it on to you. I don't know who the author is, but the truth of it rings clear.
"A veteran - whether active duty, retired, national guard or reserve – is someone who, at one point in their life, wrote a check made payable to "The United States of America," for an amount of "up to and including my life".
Enjoy your retirement, you earned it.

Thank you for serving this great country. As for the POTUS the sheep are the ones that got him elected and I'm sure it'll go further down before It'll start coming up.

Re: Got my marching orders.
I got out of the Marines in Nov of 99. It was hard adjusting to all the fat non motivated civilians everywhere. Don't let yourself become one of them. Stay hard.
I read that whole thing about sheep, wolves and sheep dogs. It was a great read. Then I passed it on to all my friends at work. I work security in a nuclear power plant. Everyone here is prior military so they will love it.
Good luck with the retirement and don't let your leg slow you down.
