    5 Gallon tank
I recently found one of those little 5 gallon kiddy tanks that I had from way back when and I was wondering what friend could be put in there

I'm thinking outside of the box (well, tank :8: ) with this one. Anything that isn't a fish that could go in there? I didn't know if there were really small lizards or frogs that I could get to put this tank to good use.

As a side note, if I build something from cardboard or wood in it so that it makes it multi-level, could I house a mouse in there? Or would that still be too small even if I make it multi-level? I'm assuming it'd still be too small but hey, you guys are the experts, not me. :P

The place we get our reptiles from has a TINY reef tank. I think it might be 2 gallons. Amazing little thing. I call it the desktop model. lol.

    Shrimp are awesome!! Nano-tank also.
What about some of the teeny dart frogs? I don't know if those need larger tanks?
Maybe a smaller tarantula? An ant farm!
    A cricket!!

yeah a harlequin shrimp tank would be killer but there is the whole you have to feed them starfish deal. they won't thrive without them. there is a species of starfish that you can cut in half and both halves will become a new animal.

please... don't take on a mini-reef unless you have exp. keeping reefs... they are very hard to maintain if you dont know what your doing

i wouldnt recommend trying salt in this tank either- it's possible but'll be a PITA to keep pretty. some freshwater plants and colourful shrimp are probably your best choice as starters. you could add a couple of small fish too.
dart frogs wouldnt work in a tank that small, mayybe a small T but i dont know much about them.

ive had 3 nanos so far. they aren't too bad if you keep up on water changes. adding chemicals (which at this size is a must!) comes to be little difficult but with some math and a syringe it can be done.

my first 2 were LPS and zoos and my last one was SPS, LPS, and zoos. i combined them all into one 30 gallon and i find that it is harder to keep up with the 30 than all the others.

What about putting fish in it? There are several smaller fish that will do well in a small tank, like killifish, danios, some tetras, the small little african frog and many ornamental shrimp species.

Whoa I forgot about this thread. I haven't been here for a while. Lol.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys! I think I might just get some aquatic plants and maybe a few tetra from there.

And I wouldn't ever want to attempt a saltwater this small haha.
