Underworld: Rise of the Lycans

Just got back from movies and dinner with the wife and we went and watched the new Underworld movie. My wife loved the 1st two and this one was no different.
I've read numerous times on other sites people not wanting to see this because Kate Beckinsale wasn't in it. I really don't see why not, it's an origins movie about Lucian, Viktor and Sonja (Viktor's daughter). It didn't need Kate and besides Rhona Mitra who play Sonja is practically just another Selene (by design).

Probably my favorite part of either of the 1st two is the opening scene of Underworld: Evolution, with Viktor and the other vampires clearing out the village of werewolves while dressed in their mid-evil garb. Rise of the Lycans is like that but longer, with a love story mixed in.

Is this movie going to win any awards, no, but it isn't suppose to just like the previous two installments. But if you liked the 1st two, then I see no reason why not to like this one.

Krystal and I are going to see it tomorrow, I love the first two...but that may or may have been because I have a teensy bit of a thing for Kate Beckinsale...soo I was a little disappointed, but I like the movies themselves and not JUST her.

The movie looks cool from what I can tell. I liked the first 2. For some odd reason I have a thing for vampire movies anyways.

Me too about the vampire movies. But I go crazy over werewolf movies - so I have high hopes for this one!

I can't wait to go see it, I'm glad you gave a good review on it :GJ: Maybs not the best, but as long as you say if we like the first two, we'll like this, then that's good enough for me. I'm a sucker for anything fantastical/sci-fi :rolleyes:

I didn't even know about this movie untill this past weekend when I went to go see grand turino, GREAT MOVIE BTW, I am really excited to go see this one.

lol, Same Here, werewolf movies are the best!

I too loved the first two movies, and I am stoked about this one, I think this one is going to be my fav out of the three.

They really could have done a better job....

Story wise, i was glad to see Lucians past covered. Hes a cool character.

Saw it last night, and i say. meh. Good... But not awesome.

The end is the best part of the movie, to be honest.

Werewolf movies +1! Can't wait for Wolfman to come out. Good werewolf movies seem to be few and far between.

I have to agree with you, it's good but not awesome. I thought the same of the first two Underworlds, good but not awesome. As long as I don't come away from a movie thinking "Wow, that sucked", then good enough for me. :)

The whole movie reminded me of the Helms Deep scene from LOTR: The two Towers, but with vampires and werewolves.

Well it's not like Kate didn't make an appearance. Glad they tied it into the first one though. I really liked that part of it. But the look of oh crap I had on my face in the final fight scene was priceless (with the lycans stampeding across the rocky plain).

not really a spoiler, interesting part at most. I did not reveal anything about what happens in the main story line.

I definitely can't wait to see it.

sorry I just HATE hearing any info about a movie other than who's in it.. drives me nuts lol :P

I saw it last night it was good but dark! They killed a lot of Lycans in it for sure!
