Photo Request - All Reptiles
My 13 year old son is currently starting his 2nd year of breeding ball pythons. And his 8th year of loving reptiles (especially the "slithery" ones.
One thing that has always upset him is the fact that ever since he became interested in reptiles, he has never been able to find an annual calendar devoted only to reptile pictures. So.... in the entrepeneurial (sorry if spelled wrong) style of a 13 year old, he is designing his own calendar which he hopes to have printed for 2010.... He asked me to post to this site to see if anyone had pictures of reptiles (both common and rare) that they would be willing to donate to the project. Any photos received and used will have full credit given in the actual calendar.....
I guess it's a good project for him to work on while he waits to see if his female ball is gravid.....

I moved this into General Herp for ya. I've seen some pretty nice snake and herp calendars...but nothing wrong with starting a new project! Good luck with it!

Why don't we get a BP.net calendar started? I mean, you were talking about making the site some extra cash. I think my picture of vincent around the patron bottle should be in there. lol.

Where is this picture you speak of concerning a bottle of Petron? Why didn't i get a shot? And why is the the first i am hearing of something so outstanding?

I actually just got my custom calendar delivered today. :banana: :banana:
I bought some books from amazon and noticed one of the leaflets was for vistaprint.co.uk offering £9.99 calendars for £0.99 and free uploads of your photos. :cool:
Naturally I couldn't find enough good pics but chose some with meaning to me anyway and resized them to their specifications and uploaded. They had a lot of options I didn't bother with such as custom dates and notifications and titles for the pics.
Of course even without picking any of the expensive options by the time they added shipping and tax it came to £7.07 - but I'm still quite happy and plan on keeping shots over the coming year to do another one next year.
You can order more than one copy as gifts etc as well.
Here are some pics - just quick grabs and I promise the caledar is mostly in focus and looks waaaay better than these pics make it look. :oops:

There was a thread a while back where someone asked for pictures for a similar project for their child. I would not recommend you use those pictures without permission, but there are a lot of really nice pictures in that thread and since the owners gave permission to one mother, it seems likely they'd give permission to you as well if you asked.

I'm loving the mud snake. I have been hunting one of those for about 5 years now. I want to ad a pic of one to my collection of wild herps. I saw one about 2 years ago in my pond, and almost dove in. But, as soon as I determined I was ready to swim, I couldn't tell which direction he had gone.
As for the calender idea, I definitely think one of the BP.net photo contests could be used to create some calenders. I'd buy one too.

I just want to jump back in quick to let everyone know just how fantastic you all are.:banana: my son checks a couple times each day to see the pictures.... He's now asking if he can have more than 1 picture per month as it's soooo hard to choose..... Thank you so very much, and look forward to seeing even more... Once we have the calendar completed, I'll try to post picts of it as well...

I tell ya what, if you've never been in a tropical rain forest before, it will be hard to find stuff (unless the exchange is for a biology course?). I was there for 15 days (rain forest first time) and I found 30 or so different species of herp.
