    Evil virus from heck!
No, we're not talking about the flu. It's a computer virus from heck.. VUNDO is the name. So far my mom hasn't been able to get rid of it with Zone Alarm, Norton, Mcafee, and so on. We've tried it all. It causes all these pop ups to come up and other damage as well. I am so frustrated. I need to be able to use my computer and keep up with e-mails mostly for job related stuff.

I'd love to just be able to sit and work on my resume /surf the net without this mess. I've checked everything to get rid of this virus and it's not happening. Might be a reformat.*sigh*

Anyone know anything about it? Stupid spyware!

    grr..

    Hi,

    Have you tried this?

    http://www.symantec.com/business/sec...112210-3747-99

I always prefer to run these things from safe mode - google should be able to tell you how to get there on your system. On mine I just hit f8 like a demented monkey at startup till it does what I want. :P

I got Vundo a while back and took my computer to the Tech Support Center on Campus. They installed Malwarebytes (A free anti-malware thing you can download on the internet, just google it) and it got rid of the problem for me!

Sometimes a re-format is the best bet. I frequently re-format to get rid of a lot of the gook that some how manages to get on my computer. Mac, PC, Linux....doesn't matter. they all get loaded with crap that slows ya down

i agree with the fact that whether its linux or windows its still going to get loaded down with crap after time, and a reformat is sometimes the easiest way to fix it fast, but ive been using norton 360 for about 7 months or so, and i love it, we have it on all 3 of our computers on our network, and nothing has gone wrong virus-wise, but we'll see how it does in the future

You know i can not understand why some one can create a virus and live with themselves .Why create something that basicly kills someones computer :mad:. I think when someone gets caught doing this crap they should be beat to death slowly .I hope you can get your computer back somehow.

AVG and Ad-Aware are what you need.

Reformatting your drive constantly is not really an answer.

Prevention is key. A GOOD Antivirus program is the way to go.

I have to disagree .. it depends on a lot of things. Creating an image, and reinstalling from time to time is a god send for anyone that uses their PC seriously. If you take performance, stability, and sanity serious when using your PC .. a reformat saves some time.

Ive had my system running for.... quite awhile. No reformats ( save when i bought a new mobo, and power supply for the Desktop) or when the Toshiba went in for a new keyboard and backlight ( lappy ).

The Desktop is a Gaming PC ( the lappy is for whatever) and neither have had a problem with viruses in their time in running since ive had them/been built. :gj:

im guessing you have a router :D

NAT tends to help block most worms it all depends on what ports you have forwarded

Google it. You can find out how to remove any virus/spyware from searching it in google.

Or you could stop looking at dirty sites!! lol.

I agree with Nate. I work phone support (yaaaaay) and the analogy I tell customers whom I suggest need a good reformat is "Your computer is like your car. You can be a careful driver and drive the speed limit and obey the laws, but you still have to change the oil from time to time because it just gets full of gunk."
