    quick genetic question
Just want to make sure I got this right.... Are the following correct???

    Pastel X Pastel

    would make:

    25% normal
    50% pastel
    25% super pastel

    ---------------------------
    Super Pastel x Normal

    Would make:

    100% pastels

    -----------------------------

    Super Pastel X Super Pastel

    would make

    100% Super Pastels?
    ----------------------------

    Super Pastel X Spider

    Would make

    50% pastels
    50% bumble bees (pastel spiders)

I though a super pastel x spider would make a killer bee, no?
and that a normal pastel x spider make bumblebee?

a killerbee = superpastel spider, but a super pastel x spider would only throw bumblebees and pastels because offspring can only inherit one gene from each parent

Killer bees are made two ways: by combining super pastel and spider or by combining bumblebee and pastel.

you can't get a killer bee by breeding super pastel x spider...just like you can't get super pastels by breeding super pastel x normal

So what your saying is that in order to get killer bees you would have to breed the super pastel to the spider, and breed back a bumble bee to the super pastel. In easier words Super Pastel x Bumble Bee = Killer Bee

Or a Pastel x Bumble Bee.

Or a bumble bee x bumble bee for that matter.

As long as both parents have the pastel gene and at least one has the spider gene there is a possiblity.

Killer bee is a super pastel spider. How do you make a spider? You need another spider. How do you make a super pastel? You need two pastel genes. Throw everything around and you need at least a Bumblebee ( Pastel spider) and a pastel to make the super pastel and the spider into a combined morph.

    Beexpastel
    Super pastelxbee

Those are the the two ways to make a killer bee without going into more complicated ways.

Alot of people I think think that you make a killer bee because people saw a killer bee is a superpastelxspider. People are saying that just to tell you what it is made up of, not how to make it. Just like someone else said you cant make a super pastel by breeding a super pastel to a normal, so why could you make a killer bee by breeding a super pastel to a spider?

    Hope this helps! - Matt

Thanks for all your help guys! I guess I passed the intermediate genetics test... Now I need to start trying to figure out the advanced... that means three morph genes at once!

    One more quick related question.

So the only way to be certain a super pastel is a super pastel is:

1.) Both parents are super pastel
2.) It is proven out by breeding

Is that correct? Now some pastels are definately better looking then others. same is true for super pastels. In fact, some crappy supers look like good pastels and the opposite is true too.

Here is my real question. I know lots of people do Pastel x Pastel breedings. BUT I have never seen a "Possible Super Pastel" sold for sale. Why is that? Is it safe to say that breeders doing pastel x pastel breedings will just call the lightest babies supers? Doesn't that also mean that there are probably lots of people out there that have purchased super pastels that are really nice normal pastels?

Mike, when a super is born you know. the blushing is almost white and they are born fluorescent orange/yellow. There is almost no mistaking it.
