    New Cage Setup
Here are some pics of the new cages we've been working on. They are in our living room and I find myself watching the snakes more than the TV now.

    http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...omplete004.jpg

We knew cleaning the bottom cages would be a pain with the drop down doors, so we built brackets instead of using hinges on the bottom cages. This way we can lift the doors out of the way.

    http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...omplete006.jpg

We put ventalation holes half way up the back on one side and in the top of the door glass on the other side to have good cross ventalation.

    http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...omplete008.jpg

We used LED rope light mounted in the ceiling. We routed a groove 5/16 inch deep and 1/2 inch wide for the 1/2 inch rope light. It fits snug, but we still used some silicon to make sure it doesn't fall out. We tried using the incandescent rope light, but it heated the cages up too much, even on a dimmer.

    http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...omplete009.jpg

The whole thing is heated using flexwatt. We routed a recess in the bottom of the floor about 3/8 inch deep. Then reinforced the floor with 3/4 inch square steel and used reflectix to keep from heating the cage below.

    http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...Bottoms001.jpg

    http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...geBottoms2.jpg

We used 2 Herpstat Pro's and 1 Herpstat II to control the heat. One Herpstat Pro controls all the hot spots and the other one controls all the ambient heat. The Herpstat II controls the top row of cages, hot spot and ambient. We also put the components for the TV on drawer slides so we could easily get to the back of them.

    http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...omplete010.jpg

This is what it looks like with the lights off in the room.

    http://i237.photobucket.com/albums/f...eteDark006.jpg

This took several months to complete, but was worth it in the end.

that is the most insane entertainment center I have ever seen.

I was just thinking what would he do if you decided to get bigger tv, well you can get one of those projector tvs that hang from the ceiling and a white board or canvas whatever you would call it drops down in front of the tv. Then you also have a small cage where the smaller tv was. :D

If only I weren't planning to move within the next year or so I'd think about building something like that. Total pain to move I bet!

Absolutely the most impressive building project I've seen on this site.

The new rectangle tv will fit, but we would have to put the components on the top of the setup. We would definately need a ladder to change a DVD, the top of the setup is about 7 1/2 feet tall.

Lets see..... there is an albino green burmese, an albino granite burm, two hypo het leucistic burms, 3 dwarf burmese in the three cages right above the TV, another pair of dwarf burms in two of the boxes, six half dwarf burms in the remaining boxes, a pair of breeding dumeril's boas and a trio of breeding dum's. The grand total... 20.

By the way, the pair of dwarf burms directly above the TV are breeding at this moment. Yeeehawwwww!!!!

Do the vibrations and noise of the tv bother them all?
We have the Bci's in the living room and when the bass booms, or the guy-action-shoot-em-ups happen, the snakes seem to notice

BTW, your building project is GORGEOUS!! Kudos for a job really well done!!

We placed the speakers on 2" of foam to reduce vibration down into the cages. They don't seem to react when we are watching TV, but we are mindful not to crank it up too much.

Our biggest female is almost 7 feet and our biggest male is about 5 1/2 feet. These 2 haven't grown any in the last year or so. We have a total of 3.4 dwarfs. One pair are yearlings and the other 3 are 4 1/2 to 6 feet.

Keep us posted on your spotnose to pastel clutch, maybe we can work out a trade of some type.

Will you make me one too? I'm more than happy to bring my checkbook. I will even write a check! Does it have to be attatched to an active checking account? :D

Okay, I want one too. But you'll have to come to Florida. I'll be ready with a check which is attached to an active checking account even. Wait, wait... how much did that thing cost????
I only need space for my 2 bp's, 1 hognose, and a few ASFs. But, with room for expansion - we're thinking of getting maybe 3 more snakes, that's it. No need for TV space. Seriously, would you consider building me one?

The section for the TV and components is big enough for an upgraded TV, but I would have to put the components on top of the setup.

To run all that flexwatt, what does it do to your electric bill. I am currently building a few new enclosures and i was afraid flexwatt would kill my electric bill.

Thank you to everyone who has replied. We still find ourselves watching the snakes more than the TV. As far as replacing the TV, the new ones will fit in the space that is set aside for the TV and components, we would just have to do some modifications. The only trouble is we would have to place all of the components on the top of the setup. We are hoping this is not something that we will have to do in the very near future. :P
