Guessing Approx Age of young BP

I have recently purchased a young BP from a reptile store here in the UK. The store owner had gone home and his son was the person who sold me my BP. Unfortunatly he did not tell me her hatch date as their company pc was down. Is there a way to tell her age approx she is 12 inches in length she is quite well filled out in her body and healthy and very tame. I have not been back to the store but am curious as to her real age.

Im gonna guess 6 months or younger.

I'd say a Aug /Sept hatch date

It is very difficult to guess the age of a ball python given that there are so many factors that affect growth. I would suggest you call the store and ask :)

I love the babies. They're so cute! (wow, i hope my friends don't know i said that.)

Makes me want a new baby ball. Mine are growing up so fast. :(

my '08 girl was hatched in late aug and is up to 23-24 inches

The store have said to me she hatched last April 08.

Her size is 73g AND 13 INCHES APPROX

She is fed on a rat pup once a week as per the intructions of the person I got her from.

From what I have been told here in the UK by experienced people she is possibly much younger.

Any advice would be much appreciated. She has been home for a week I tried to get her to feed today but she was not interested.

april 08 73 grams? sounds like a little underweight to me...but do i know im a newb

I would agree but she is not or should as I say she does not look it to me. I suspect she is far younger, I had the choice of 3 at the store there were 5 but they said they were all the same age but the others were not yet strike feeding. So as a very experienced animal person but a newby in snakes I suspect she is much younger than they said. But why would they say she was older? All the royals they had were the same age or sub adults.

prolly jus didnt know, and said the first thing that popped into their mind, was it a chain pet store, ah well actually most pet stores ive ran into dont know the first thing bout their snakes from age to sex to type haha j.k. but i wuldnt be suprised.....

my boy was hatched june 4th, 2008 and hes about 30" to this date... should help

ok so lets see the one you have supposedly hatched in april 08 and is 73 grams. i have some snakes ive just been slowly growing up they all hatched in late june/ early july 08 and they are about 300 grams eating frozen mice.

now a snake that old should be eating on its own period. im going to take a wild guess and say that if they hatched at that time they are probally captive hatched or they are seriously underfeeding them or there is some serious problems with their setup.
