YellowBelly Spider

OK so a while back I purchased what I considered to be one of the best looking spiders I've ever seen.I noticed a little color on her belly but really thought nothing of it but,the more I look at her the more I begin to think she carries the yellowbelly gene.I snapped a bunch of bellyshots though she wasnt being very cooperative!:rolleyes:
Anyways the flash kinda washes out the color but I think these pics should give a general idea.I'm just looking for some other herper opinions:salute:

Just a spider! Yellow bellies arn't known for yellow bellies, its a whole bunch of other characteristics!

Agreed!

That yellow speckling is common on allot of spiders..

My spider has the same belly... some dark flecking across the belly, and the same coloring.

Hot spidey though.

And if anyone does have a yellowbelly spider I hope the post it. Always wondered what the YB gene might do to a spider.

Same with the ivory spider... considering what ivory does to the pastel head... I think an ivory spider might be kinda sexy in spades!

that is a beautiful spider none the less. hopefully I will get one at the upcoming white plains show.

It's a great looking striped spider, but the slight checkering ON the belly tells me that it's probably not a yellow belly. The belly scales of yellow bellys are very clean and white or slight yellowing or with slight yellow patches. The checkering that yellow belly's are noted for should be on the sides adjacent to the belly scales but not ON them.

The picture of NERD's has the brown/black flecking on the belly as well... I guess I am not seeing the difference? Serious question, as I would like to see the diffs between this one and the YB Spidey in the pic on NERD's site.

Yeah, I see what you mean.... I just looked at the NERD yellowbelly spider and saw that there IS some pattern on the belly... I guess I'm kind of at a loss here. As a general rule of thumb a yellow belly has a clean white belly. I guess exceptions can and probably do happen, but in my experience they have always been clean and patternless. Perhaps the spider influence makes a difference? On the other hand, and please forgive me for a moment while I play devils advocate here, Kevin has been known to post photos of snakes with descriptions of what he THINKS they are and not necessarily what they have been PROVEN to be... Does anyone know if that snake has been PROVEN to be a yellowbelly?

Yea I pasted that page at the bottom of my post.That is why I even started the thread is because after looking at those pics I found myself thinking "hell my spider has more color on its belly."
It was sold to me as a regular spider and I couldnt be happier with her I just cant tell the diffrence between the two.If anyone has a Yellowbelly spider in their actual collection could you post it?

I looked at my spider again, and there is no difference. She has the thick orange - yellow band as well.

I figured when I aimed for one, I would use a male ivory, that way I would know for sure they were ybs. Figured it may be a crap shoot trying to discern it within a clutch.

To the OP. Sorry... looks like a normal spider afterall. Best way to find out... breed to an ivory... or something. :)

If you did not pay for a morph( In this case the added YB), its mostly guaranteed that it is not.

lol yellowbellies don't actually have yellow bellies, well maybe a few might, but its just that when two are bred together they make ivories...

Yeah just a low white spider. But what a looker.
