Bear Grylls is a fame hungry fony! As a Backpacker/Rock Climber originally I loved the concet of the show... "I am going to skydive into BUFU Nowhere with nothing but a knife and a canteen, and the camera crew will follow without intrusion, and show you how I survive with basically nothing out here in the wilderness!!" I WAS STOKED!!! Till things started seeming fishier and fishier. Not only was he exrecising EXACTLY WHAT NOT TO DO if you were lost in the wilderness.... "Here is a giant rocky slope... Let me charge down it full boar as fast as I can skiddin and tummbling" while even a sprained anckle in a survival situation can prove fatal. He says he is a rock climber... And then he finds a old faded draping about 60 feet over the top of the ledge which is out of site. Any trained rock climber knows that a MAIN rule is to never use equipment you find laying around, never trust it... You are putting your life into a piece of gear that was probly left because it Junk, and has gotten junkier since. But yet Bear Grills readily hand of hands this piece of webbing almost 50 ft into the without even knowing how it is anchored at the top.... The stupidest thing you could do. And in the intro he state "I am going to show you the skill and tricks necessary for survival out here". Getting your Survival info from that clown is like getting Husbandry advice from PetCo.

Then it happend... A former camera man from the show several months ago... came forward and exposed Bear Grylls for the Liar he is!!! He publicly annouced that the camera crews would not only assist in several way with the survival, but they would bring in Native Plant, and animal species with them, to plant just incase they couldn't find any to get the shot with. Then when all is said and done for the day, They film him huddled up in hius supposed bed for the night.... CUT... The trucks come pick them up, and they are escorted to their hotel rooms where room service is waiting, and they prep for heading out onto location the next Day. BEAR GRYLLS LIED TO US! I don't and I won't ever support that show...

All of the fame and Glory deserves to be THE MAN with my Favorite Canadian ever... None other than honorable Les Stroud!. SurvivorMan is a great show, that demonstrates survival, in a realistic way. I won't go into details...but that show is done the right way, and you can't help but respect Les for his abilites. Saddly unless I am mistaken I believe he called it quits after the Papua New Guinea episode, Saying that something like 25 episodes (each episode = 7 days in remote places, alone, no camera crew, very little food provided if any). He has decided to call it quits. That comes out to 175 days of really roughing it is enough.:O

LOL! And I bet the camera guy is just standing there with a granola bar or something, while having a laugh too.

As far as I'm concerned, Bear Grylls does not pretend to be anything like survivorman. Simply because of the fact that he has a camera crew. He doesn't spend the night where he is, and is not really surviving. My impression of the show is that he is simply showing you how to deal with the situation that he is in. In his case its a mock situation, and hes never in any danger, but hes just demonstrating what to do if you ever find yourself in the wilderness hes been placed into for the episode. If hes gonna show you how to skin a rabbit, they will bring in a dead rabbit for him to skin, he doesn't catch and kill it himself. If hes gonna show you how to climb out of a canyon, they're not necessarily filming it in a canyon in the middle of no where. I personally love both shows, they are both very different and demonstrate different things.

I was a fan of Gryls from the first episode...Grylls made changes to his shows intro after these aleggations came out... You are right... NOW he tells you that he is just out there "demostrating"... When in the beggining, He was "escapeing the brazillin rainforest with no help from my camera crew, and only a knife a Canteen". In the beginning he was lying... Now that he was exposed... He changed his wording so that he does not look like a liar. Look at the rediculous ads for the show they have, him being pulled by living vines, and scaling a cliff face while boulders fall around his head....:colbert::rolleyes: LAME! And if he is going to "demonstrate" survival skills... Do It Right!!! Anyone who really calls themselves an outdoorsmen, and has seen the show, can say that the things he does on that show are done in the interest of entertaining the viewers, and not educating them. It is a lot more exciting to watch recklessly barrel down a rock slope, than to watch him do the correct surrival method, of carefully sidestepping down the terrain, or looking for an easy place to switchback down the slope. BEAR GRYLLS IS A JOKE!

The only problem is that Bear will often give dangerous and potentially lethal advice if anyone were to follow his examples in a real-life situation. For example, in the Sierra episode he chose to float down a river to "save time". They didn't show that he wore a lifejacket underneath his clothes nor did they tell you that hypothermia, rock collisions, getting caught in a strainer, etc. are far more dangerous and deadly than just taking a little extra time walking out of the Sierras. In that same episode they showed him trying to tame wild horses to ride out of the mountains (which turned out to be domestic horses that were brought in for the show). I'm sure anyone who has dealt with feral horses would tell you that not only is it dangerous to approach or handle them, but also a very time consuming process to get a wild horse to accept someone on their back.

Here's a website that shows all the lame and dangerous advice he has given for practically every episode.

THANK YOU!!! I forgot about the life vest...

Or how about in Alaska when they find an old abandonded fishing lodge, and to his Wonderfull Suprise there just happened to be an old looking boat over turned in the grass... He lifted it up, and the grass underneathe was totally green! Hmmm ??? Planted Maybe?

Xdeus... You and I are on the same page here... What he teaches his viewers is "What Not to Do" if you are in a survival situation.

Everyone should read all the sections of that link.... He is an EXPOSED Fame Hungry Fony!!!

"If hes gonna show you how to skin a rabbit, they will bring in a dead rabbit for him to skin, he doesn't catch and kill it himself."

In the episode I saw they sure wanted you to think he caught and ate that thing himself. He widdled out a throwing stick, stayed really low to sneak up and apparently threw it at the rabbit killing it(with some very questionable camera work and quick camera work cut,... His First Shot! Possible? Yes, Do I think he got that rabbit himself? Nope... It was probably brought by the crew... THE 1 TIME in a Survivor Man show, where they had no luck with a certain kind of fish, they told the audience..."We struck out, so just so you can still see we brought a prop fish along." I can respect that, at least they were honest to the viewers. But if Mav Vs. Wild brings in animals for him... It was kept secret, and it made them look twice as bad and misleading, when a disgruntled ex camera man makes your lies public after he was fired.

How about in the amazon when he twisted together vines to make a rope to repel down a waterfall.... He gathered vines... But they didn't show how he secured the vines to the tree!!! The most important part. I want his lame show of the air...
