A White Line?
Ok well I been lookin around random classified ads and such to see if anyone was getting rid any ball pythons that particularly caught my interest. There were lots of people getting rid or normal babies and such. but i saw an ad for a "3 1/2 ft BP" so i checked it just cuz i was bored. And ended up emailing her and asked for pics and said she had none, but she informed me it was a beautiful snake with a white tail that she had never seen on any snake before?? i asked her to describe it and she told me its a 4in long white line from the tip of its tail up its back? She said she is going to try and get me a pic tomorrow. So ill post it if i get. But just curious to see if any of yall might have seen this before? Yall are the pros, lmk what you think. It maybe have a little morph to it, or its normal and im just not the brightest crayon in the box, or maybe the owner has eye trouble?

Re: A White Line?
If it is just a stripe, it may be the remnants of a bad shed. If it means the last 4 inches of the snake is white, then it is probably a piebald.
-
Re: A White Line?
I thought piebald at first because she said its whole tail was white, then when i asked her how much of it was white at the end she said a 4in white line? idk, would a bad shed leave a mark permanently like that though?

Re: A White Line?
or if it has a normal pattern with the white it could be a ringer

Re: A White Line?
I dont think it would be permanent, but we had a little bit of a rough spot on our bp take a few weeks to heal. She shed fine, but a couple of days after, like 2-3 inches on her back got really dehydrated....just that stripe and nothing else...made it look kind of chalky white until it got back to normal.

Re: A White Line?
I was actually gonna ask about the ringer next, idk much about them at all. Im not good at all at spotting traits and such on a snake.
No pic, the owner said shed try and have me one tomorrow (monday)
Ya i know what you mean with the chalky looking affect but the way she talked about it, it had always been there and she says its "beautiful"

Re: A White Line?
if its not far I'd say its atleast worth a drive to see it. If others think it might be worth while like you are you might be beat to it. I've seen someone giving a pied away for free but was to late to get it

Wow!! those must have been the dumbest people in the world.

Re: A White Line?
well im not to worried about anyone beatin me to it. her ad just says 3 1/2 ft ball python, good eater and friendly pretty much. i didnt get any other info till i emailed her. and there was probably a dozen other normals on there. but its a 2.5hr drive from me. so im gonna wait and get a pick before i make the drive. and get some more opions from yall. but its under 100 bucks so if it looks like it might be somethin ill just go get. and if it turns out to just be a normal so be it. i dont mind having another snake

Hell, I'd be on the first plane from here in South Africa, a pied would cover the flight and then some:D

Re: A White Line?
Could it just possible be the way some normal bps have a stripe on their tail? She says white but maybe its just a light yellow stripe like is normal for BPs?

Re: A White Line?
ya that's what I'm wonderin. If I go look at it I'm gonna buy it. It's 2.5hr drive and I don't wanna do it for nothin. And I won't wanna leave it knowing the owner doesn't want it. But shes tryin to send me pics today so ill post them. She says it's "white" who knows maybe it is just really light yellow

Re: A White Line?
....AND it doesnt look like im going to get pics. Owner says they wont upload to her comp, she cant txt pics, you know the story. but she says its deffinitly a white stripe 4inches long or better and atleast 1/2in wide. she said i was welcome to come look at it anytime i wanted. but its in adairsville (sp?) georgia. and thats 2.5+ hrs. so i guess im not gonna fool with it. thats to much time and diesel fuel to waste hopin its somethin special when itll more than likely just be a normal. thanks for everyones help and opions though. if anyone else is local/interested and wants to check it out pm and ill give you the email addy to the owner

Re: A White Line?
what if you provide her pics and tell her to choose? find one of scale damage, a pied, a ringer, and the one above of the yellow stripe and ask her to point out what it is?
-
Re: A White Line?
i would just send a pic of a normal tail stripe and ask if its like that.
-
Re: A White Line?
Dang! Why didnt i think of that! IDK what id do without yall, thanks for the brillant ideas
