Weird question...

Ok this is kinda funny but...

I seem to keep getting peed and pooed on by my bps. I was wondering if I just have bad timing in handling them when they need to go or if maybe they "go" when they're stressed or scared or something?

I know frogs have peed on me or atleast released a liquid as some sort of defense mechanism.. BPs don't do this, do they?

2 of the 4 so far, but the other 2 are new arrivals and so haven't been handled at all yet. My snakes that poop on me record is 2 for 2 now. lol
They've each done it a couple times.

I saw that this thread has alot more views and only one reply.. I hope you all don't think I'm joking. This is a serious question! Even if it is funny.

Are the 2 snakes both male?

If there is a bulge before the vent and you hold them, the warmth and movement combined will cause them to use the washroom on you.

My snakes pee... A lot! It's annoying but I guess it's the joy of owning such animals. :weirdface I know when I had a bearded dragon, as soon as I would drop him in warm water it was like instant poop.. Its weird! I see you have a few bp's and are aware but, I'd just make sure the temps in the cages are where they're supposed to be. Maybe you are warmer than the cage and it's causing it.

It's a male and a female that have done it...

They're both young and atm share a 40 or 50gal breeder tank... I plan to seperate them soon... I have a ceramic heat emitter and an uth and the warm side of the tank is at.. I want to say 96? I wish I was at home to check. It might actually be more like 100? And to be honest I have no idea what temp the cool side is at. Only have one thermometer in there atm. The glass on that side is much cooler to the touch.

They do both "go" in the tank as well as on me, so I don't think heat is the problem. Thank you though!

I suppose I'm just not paying enough attention to their lumps and bulges. haha. To me it *always* looks like there's a big reduction in body thickness after the vent. They just have small tails! I guess I'll have to figure out what thickness exactly means potty time.

I feel like the anxious mom that takes their kid to the Dr. if it sneezes! I just started noticing a pattern and wondered if anyone else had any insight.

How LONG are you holding them? If I hold one of my corns more than about 15 minutes they go on me every time. :D

So far my BP's don't poop on me.

If your temps are getting up to 100 you really need to get some control on your heat sources. I think a UTH and a CHE is overkill, but maybe you need it for a tank that big, especially to keep your ambient temps up.

If you are not using it already, go to walmart and get an Acurite Indoor/Outdoor thermometer. It is about 12 bucks, and will measure one temp with a probe, which you put on the warm side bottom over the UTH, a put the unit on the cool side for humidity and cool side ambient temps. Aim for 92-94 on the warm and 82-84 on the cool. Also, you really should separate them soon, but if they are both small, you will probably want smaller enclosures for both of them, though you could try to just divide the tank you already have with another pane. They should have two identical hides, one warm, one cool as well. A cheap and easy way to control your heat is a lamp dimmer, about 10 bucks at Walmart, Home Depot, Lowes etc....just plug the dimmer into the socket, and the heat source into the dimmer. It will take more upkeep than a thermostat, but is a good cheap alternative until you can afford or are ready to buy a tstat.

haha MY CORN DOES THAT TOO!! if i hold her for more than 15 min, EVERYTIME she will poop on me. quite annoying lol she was my first snake n have had her for almost 2 years. still she is very twitchy, and hasn't gotten use to being handeled.
