No, she originally came from Paul Wyble at Steel City Exotics. I'm hoping I get a couple of females this season.

I know it gets confusing, especially with names like "cinnamon pastel", "black pastel", and what I consider the REAL pastels(lemon pastel, graziani line pastel, blonde pastel etc)
Cinnamons(formerly known as cinnamon pastels, most people don't use the 2nd word anymore since it is confusing) and "Black pastels" are mutations with genes that occur on the same allele, pretty much different lines of the same kind of mutation.

No.....there are a few ways to make pewters. Here are the two most common ways:
pastel X cinnamon (which can produce normals, pastels, cinnys, and pewters - some refer to these pewters as cinny pewters or pewters from cinny lineage)
pastel X black pastel (which can produce normals, pastels, black pastels, and pewters - some refer to these pewters as black pewters or pewters from black pastel lineage)

What’s the difference between a Sterling Pastel and a Pewter?

Sterling = super pastel/cinnamon....the snake is a super pastel and a cinnamon.....it is expressing those traits at the same time.
Silver streak = super pastel/black pastel
Pewter = pastel/cinnamon OR pastel/black pastel
A sterling and a silver streak are very similar......you just use different forms of the same mutation to make it. Both sterlings and silver streaks are a "step up" from cinny pewters and black pewters.
Some of the confusion surrounding these morphs comes from different names for similar looking morphs (some breeders feel it is justified while others don't).
But a lot of the confusion started with the snake with original sterling moniker......it was most likely misidentified. The breeder called the snake a sterling when in reality it was probably an exceptional super pastel (not a super pastel/cinny). It didn't look like the sterlings that were produced after it. Not sure if subsequent breedings proved if it was a super pastel or not......it should be around that size/time right about now. Not only were the pictures posted on forums but they were posted in a couple of the nicer bp books too.
Here is an old picture of my sterling:

If I get around to it, I'll post some updated pics.

Re: Show your Pewter love!
Here's a shot of some of our different Pewters to show the incredible variation in color, pattern and contrast. All 3 of these are from the same lines (Graziani pastel X Graziani Cinnamon), none are in shed, and all are in the 800-1200g range. You can really see here how your choice of parents can influence the look of the babies.

Those color patches follow are what I was referring to as bands of distortion in response to Brandon's pewter. Usually good bands have yellow and orange flecks scattered around.
But yours are off the charts! The pattern in the colored areas is pretty well defined and there is a lot of normal color. It kind of does resemble a paradox.
Male or female?
Great snake!

Hi Joe,
It is a Male and hence my dilemma. I am not sure if I am going to keep him or not. I have a Male Sterling and Silver Bullet breeding as we speak and a retired Pewter just taking up rack space so I have no need for another Male. If I knew for sure he would reproduce that I would of course keep him. Why couldn’t he have been a Female? :sniff:
