Is it okay to take your snake outside
Once the weather gets nice again (spring/summer) is it okay to take your snake outside on the deck for a short while?? Or maybe a visit to a family members house - a short 10 min. drive or so?? Just curious.

Sure - there's lots of pictures posted of snakes nosing around in the grass. They like it outside :)

I don't see why not. I've taken my kids out from time-to-time when it gets warmer outside. I usually have to watch the younger kids, but Ophi(my oldest female) is very calm and relaxed and very thoughtful in the grass. -Smiles.-

I'd say as long as it is warm enough out.

In the summer I brought Stan over to my dad's house and let him go outside in the backyard (carefully monitored though - cause that boy can move!)

It's fun watching them exploring, usually their tongues are going a hundred miles and hour. Just don't take your eyes off of them for a minute.

Just put up a snake door so they can go out on their own. And get them a little collar with the sensor that opens the snake door so they dont bring in an undesirables.

Grass is almost the perfect back ground for any snake. Even green trees look cool in grass. Carpets look best IMO, the green really sets the black and yellow off. In short, you should be fine.

Is there an increased risk in mites if you let it slither through the grass outdoors???

No, snake mites are not native to the US or Europe, I think they originally come from India.

Only if you don't keep an eye on them and let them wander near pre-dug holes (rabbit holes etc). Ball pythons themselves don't dig.
