Looks pretty good to me man. On your "momma racks" are they just sitting on top of that bar on the bottom to keep them in there or is there some sort of rail that I'm not seeing? Not a bad idea if it works :D. I'd be kind of worried about putting a mother with a big litter in something that small though, once they're a few weeks old before being weaned that would be a VERY cramped tub for all of them.

Thanks for your thoughts. yea its just that one bar, but its really tight against the top but i keep checking every couple of hours haha. I just put them in today so its still a work in progress. I will move them out when babies are about to open their eyes. :gj: Im thinking of ways to make it safer i dont want any moms getting out. My girl would kill me

Just my opinion, I think 6 qt tubs are far too small for a mother and her litter.

Racks look good....I also think its cool that you can have your water heater in the garage and have no worries of it freezing!

I agree with Connie. Look at the first pic, mama butt takes up like 75% of the width of the tub.

We used the van ness large litter size tubs for our maternity rack. Seems just to be the perfect size. :gj:

No, the high backs dont work well for racks....usually something more like this....

Yup, although it's a tiny pic, those are the brand and make. Just the large size. I have a picture.... They look foreshortened in these pics, I don't have a very good directly over top angle.

I'm almost finished with my 6 tier rat rack. I used Rubermaid 7+ gallon bus tubs. Nice and thick and very smooth inside...

So far the girls I have are not really excited about being in the same tubs. They are fighting over the babies - one in particular would not let the other mom anywhere near the giant pile O babies. :O I split them up....

Would I have better luck with the moms getting along by letting a baby daughter grow up with mom??

So far my 1.4 rat farm has 4 litters and 50+ babies... The snakes will be eating good! Only problem is that the babies are SOOO cute!! I have a couple blue and beige (fawn?) solids and hoodies that I may want to keep....:D
