We picked up our Doberman Puppy today!

We got up at 4am this morning and drove a total of 12 hours there and back to pick up our beautiful and final addition to our family! She's GORGEOUS!!! I couldn't be happier and she seems to be enjoying herself chasing the kitties, getting whacked, bouncing around, and running away :rolleyes: She's a kill.

Oh, and yes she is cropped and docked. I purchased her this way from the breeder because that's the way I want my Dobie to look. She's AKC registered and has an open registration. I hope to get involved in a little showing some day :please: We'll see how her conformation plays out. Her grandpa is a European triple international champion, but her mother and father weren't shown, so we'll see how she does. If all else fails we'll get involved in agility when she turns 2.

Luna watching Athena nose around the kitty food. Athena has never seen cats before but she absolutely loves them. If they stop hitting her long enough to sneak a kiss in she goes nuts and bounces around the house :rofl: She doesn't even care if they scratch her she just bounces off and plays with something else.

They are! My SO wasn't sure about momma till we saw her in person today and he was amazed. He hasn't met too many Dobermans and he was very shocked at how beautiful they are.

The male is stunning! We are so excited to start enjoying out first Doberman. I grew up with a couple males when I was younger and they were awesome, but my dad kept them more for guarding our family farm than for pets :( I'm excited to see what awesome house pets they are. She's already a Velcro dog to mommy. I don't mind a bit! :D

The breeder said there are several different ways to crop the ears, but she's always had trouble with cropping them early because of size difference and infections. I think more breeders wait to crop them, but don't quote me on that. They are docked and have their due claws removed as soon as they are born. Athena got her ears cropped over a week ago and got the stitches out earlier this week. They aren't taped the best because there are a couple spots we need to put ointment on to help her heal faster. I also forgot to mention she's 8 weeks old. Her ears will continue to be taped for a week at a time until they don't flop anymore. This is her first "posting" and we'll take it out for a day then re-post again in a few days. After that it's week by week and it all depends how quickly her cartilage trians/grows into the upright position.

Oh :O, I always forget how cute they are as puppies! There are a few members here with dobies my self included, Judy (JLC) as well. Have fun with her;)

I love Dobies as my cousin has 2, they have male and female both cropped and docked and also both spayed and neutered!! The is sadly old at 10 years and the female is 3 years old, The male is Isiac and is a black and tan and the female is named Jasmine and she is a blue dobie and is beautiful!! Dobermans always look so wonderful when they are taken care of - its nice to see some really gorgeous dogs (that aren't overfed until they are fat!). Great looking parents, I'm sure she will be just as good looking.

BTW, if I was you I'd sit down with the cats and some pictures and explain to them how big that pup they are bullying around will grow to be... :O

Lol, I think I'm rather glad they grow up fast! I can't believe all the energy and chewing! :rolleyes: She's awfully mouthy right now, but she is teething so I'll give that to her.

The adults all looked very good. They are healthy, but not over weight at all. The mom was very pretty too! The dad is to die for.

I'm am already EXTREMELY impressed with this breed!!! I sat down with her today and in 10 minutes I was able to teach her sit and lay down! :O I about had a heart attack! She's amazingly smart and so eager to please! I wasn't expecting her to actually learn anything because she is so young, I just wanted to make some progress.
