I always have tons of live food running around. I love watching my girl "hunt" down a big mouse or a little rat.

After feeding my snakes for 4 years all live prey I recently switched to pre-killed and am happy with the transition. It is definitely easier and more convenient to have the rodents simply stored in the freezer. Of course my friends want to see the live take down, but since ive taken on some bigger snakes its probably best to get them used to a calmer feeding response with free killed prey. Just my 2 cents

I tried f/t for a while when I only had around twenty ball pythons or so, and was throwing away too many each week. After a while I decided to switch them to live and have a much better feeding response. Another nice thing about feeding live is that if they don't eat I can just put the rat back in its bin until next week.

Used to feed F/T when I had less than 10 snakes now with 40+ I feed live.

One snake eats live mice and all the rest eat f/t rats :)

I've never fed pre-killed or f/t, only live to my ball pythons.

My king get f/t mouse fuzzies, and will likely just stay on f/t, since it's just a matter of laying the defrosted/warmed up prey in his tub and he eats it. No zombie dances required.

General rule of thumb... small collections are easier with f/t. Bigger collections are easier with live.

There are definately exceptions to this rule, but this is what I believe.

I have 16 to feed and they're all different. :) 7 are on FT and one (the MBK) only wants live fuzzies. The rest take fresh pre-kills.

Of course, tis the season and I have two or three snakes that just will not eat right now. Strangely, one is a corn but he hasn't lost so much weight that I would worry yet.

Basically, I feed my snakes whatever they want to eat. :)

All my BP's were fed live when I bought them, and they still eat live today. my RTB will eat f/t, but I'm going to start buying that in stock whenever I go buy dog food, lol.

all my bals eat f/t but my blood has been tramatized by a live one so i'm aleast trying to get him to eat something but once i get more ice/rats i will be feeding live it's easier and if they don't eat back to the cage

All of ours except our biggest girl eat live. OUr biggest girl is for some reason afraid of live and anytime you put a live in with her she does the defensive strike but never coils on it. Frozen thawed on the other had she takes readily. It is kind of nice that way since once our rats get to her size we joist put them in the CO2 chamber and freeze them unless we plan on using them for replacement breeders.
