Yeha bloods are all bark but no bite. LOts of times my blood will take a deep breath and make a hissing sound but very short and low. never actually heard a loud hiss outta him. My borneo on the other hand, now theres a loud one. Shes probably the most talkative snake i have ever seen. But still as sweet as a puppy.
Re: blood pic left at my door step

Are you getting him to a vet for the wound?
Can you take photos of it as well? At least then we could see how bad the damage is and such as well.
Hes definitely thin, but i agree with your judgement that you should be careful on prey size * as well as if he was not fed properly from the start, you dont want to feed him something too large either* Definitely see a vet if this is as big as it sounds.
Re: blood pic left at my door step
he has been to the ve twice and everything is good i'm trying to get him to f/t for now but he just won't budge i even tried keeping a few rats in the room to add some flavor to the room but still no budge i'm afraid to force feed but i might have too...
Re: blood pic left at my door step
Attempting to force feed a mouse or rat might cause further trauma to the wound. If you were going to resort to that, then maybe tube feeding would be less stressful. I had to do that with a couple snakes I received in very poor condition a few years ago. It was much easier. If you haven't had any experience with it, I would ask your vet and see if they agree and could help you with it.
Re: blood pic left at my door step
so get this i just tried to feed him again this time with liv since f/t isn't working i put a small rat i'm talking small rat in his tank the rat was busy run around then i notice the snake must of got wind of him i have never seen a snake go after live so i was waiting to see what wil happen well he came out of his cover and slammed the rat curled up on i was like damn he was hungry this all to place in like 10 miute then after the snake had killed it i was good he going to eat but instead just went back into his hide so i know he like live but what was all this about it was strange ?

hey man it is a sumartran blood python no one else told you for a fact what it was lol
Re: blood pic left at my door step
Who would leave a snake on somebody's doorstep?
That would freak me right out! Unless you post your home addresse on the internet then I would have to assume it was somebody you knew? I would have started grilling all of my friends. lol
Good luck. I hope he starts eating better for you.
I took in a ball that was being mistreated, they kept offering him a huge rat that he was obviously terrified of... He eats just fine for me but only pretty small prey... He's on small rats and that took time as it is... He has a few little spots that look like small scars that I assume are rat bites... So I think that kinda trauma is commonly going to make them afraid of the rat... My guy took 2-3 large mice for me at a feeding for a while...
Have you tried multiple prey items? Or is he not eating at all? Was he eating the f/t at all before you put the live in there?
If he killed it but didn't eat it, it could be that he wasn't hungry but he didn't want to get chewed on again so he killed the rodent in self defense.... To me that would be a good sign. He's not so terrified that he just cowared in the corner...
I know nothing about bloods so I can't be of much help... Good luck and thank you for taking the poor creature in!
