What do you think of this site?
I just redid my old rodent breeding site. Its been 2 months since I worked on it so I cleared the whole thing and started from scratch.
It is a work in progress, and not everything is set in stone.
Thanks in advance for any info.
    The site is:

Looks like an avg site, you might want to look into getting a shopping cart script setup if you are selling online. I would also buy a domain so that you wont have other peoples banners all over your site.

Thank you for your input. I have contacted a local web desiner and may be working with them to make it better

Web designers can charge and arm and leg (I know because I am one). You can do a search on the web for templates and just put your info on them, very simple to do and you can use notepad to replace what you need to. You can get free templates and you can get expensive templates and just about any design you want!

Yes, get a domain. try 1and1.com because its pretty cheap. I hate seeing banners and ads all over a site, it makes it look bad and on certain computers can make it load slower.

Just a suggestion, but I would try to at least get a yahoo address that is Cochrunrodentry or your name at yahoo - it being something completely unrelated to rodents is kind of a put off. But maybe that is just me. This way when you do email people and you write back they will know right away who it is from.

    +1

Grab a script for a check out for sure.

A website being simple is a good thing, so long as it is done right. You, sir, did it well! It's simple, easy to navigate, and is looking professional

I'd like to add a suggestion to the mix though. Wording on a website can make or break (at least for me) a potential business transaction. [Syntax nazi warning]

You could switch the wording around on the front page to make it flow a bit better.

    Quote:

Cochrun Rodentry is a small, in home breeder of domestic rats and mice, located in the Black Hills of South Dakota. We strive to provide the healthiest animals possible, at an affordable price. Customer service is high-priority, which is why we make a great effort to not only reply to inquiries as soon as possible, but also to keep the site up to date.

Why should you purchase you rodents from us:

    * With a smaller breeding stock we can provide more attention to detail.
    * We belive in giving you more for your money.
    * We euthanize all animals to order.
    * We provide you with better service from day one.

(put this on the bottom somewhere, or on the products page) "Currently, we are breeding on a "To Order" basis. "

For the pricing, you may want to have it in a table form, kinda like a spreadsheet. Or at least bold the "mouse" "rat", ect.

The break down in age is GREAT! I love that you put that in there.

    Quote:

Our sizing and pricing may be a bit different than what most other large scale (?)rodent breeders have. Negotiations and trades are welcome.

    Quote:

Currently we are looking for the following trades
    Quote:

"But if you have anything" - I would take out the "but".
    Quote:

    "Priceing guide:" - There's no "e".
I'm feelin that the trades section would look nicer in a list.

You really have a great layout on your page. Everything is pretty neat. Personally, the "why you should buy from us" sales pitch does it for me. Very professional, very concise, and draws in the attention. Haha, what do you know...seems like you found a shopping cart script while I was writing this! Very nice! Just tryin to help a bit! Okay...its 4am...I'm going to bed. :taz

(used the quotes to make things a bit neater. Just for the record, the site obviously doesn't have me making corrections! )

Re: What do you think of this site?
Another problem with free sites is SEO, search engine optimization. This gets you highly ranked on google, yahoo etc. So if you are not looking for leads off search engines I wouldnt worry about it, but isnt the reason you put up a website to get more customers from the web?

I thought you went to a host without banners? I see 3 banners and recieved 2 popups from your site!!!

Being submitted to a search engine and SEO are 2 different things, SEO makes your page higher ranked so that you can be seen on the top few pages of the search instead of just farther back closer to the end.

It's not a bad site what's yours is nice and clean people will appreciate that but those ads and pop ups will turn people away. As said before a domain and a cart will go a long way.

Web hosting isnt that expensive, and most cpanel's come with a free site builder. Or you could goto a site like http://www.freecsstemplates.org/ and get a free template.

I have had the angelfire site for over a year, I was just trying to check it out.
Rite now I can not get any thing I have to pay for. Last week both me and my husband were layed off (we worked at the same place)
All my money is now in the pet food that I have(will last 2-3 weeks) I know I will find work in the next couple weeks, but for now I'm going to leave the site as is. When I get caught up with every thing else I will get the site all sorted out..
Sorry for taking up your time, but know you did help, and when I have a job again I will re-do the site.
    Thank you

Hey - for the record. There was pop ups on the first link you posted, obviously - that was why you changed, but I didn't get any banners or pop ups from the second link. (the new site). Just sayin.
