i disagree. also an avid hunter, this is just another way of hunting. i would never hunt like this, but in one way or another hunting anything is going to hurt the animal in some way. sometimes youll shoot something and never even find it. i say as long as hes eating them, i dont see a problem with it.

But you dont have to swing them around slap em on the water throw em 20' to the edge of the pond or keep them in a big ol pile where they will bite each other.

It makes me sad to see such a thing and embarrassed to call him a fellow American.

Just to clarify I love America and I am proud to be an American I am jsut not glad to see morons like that acting like a fool and some one else stupid enough to video that and call it entertainment. If he is Kentucky's best kept secret then why could it not stay that way?

That's exactly how I feel.

For example, I fish. I keep my catch often enough, though I usually CPR(catch, photograph, release for those of you who don't know). However, I don't take any fish, doomed or not, and fling it about and slap it and do anything other than let it go or quickly bring it to a quick and hopefully painless end.

I'd like to swing him around by his butt cheeks. That's a horrible way to treat a living creature. If you are going to hunt, then you should only do it with the intent to cause as little harm as possible. If he is intent on catching turtles, grab them by the shell and carry them to land. Even if you grab them by the tail, there is NO NEED TO SWING THEM. They are not a basket full of daisies.

I am absolutely disgusted by people like this. :rage:

how is that? seriously I am from a small town In Pa and grew up hunting my whole life. I am a very firm believer you eat what you kill, but seriously why waste your time on something that is mostly all shell how much meat do you actualy get off of them. And he treats them with zero respect like some kind of inbreed. We hunt whitetail deer to help thin the herds because of high reports of motor vehicle collisions, and crop destruction. Turtle hunting is discusting and inhumane.
You say that America is so great because you can do whatever you want, sorry but that is americas downfall.

Ok I'll take care of that looser but it's going to be a while not to mention my expenses are getting out of hand and this economy is not helping me.

There's a decent amount of meat on a turtle, and it's a highly prized meat.
That said, he's a idiot who doesn't think of the animal suffering by swinging it around or throwing it, but because he's about to kill it, I guess he doesn't think of that. He's probably ignorant of how much suffering he's causing, because that's how HE was taught to hunt turtles, and he's never considered what the animal feels.

I consider this country to be one of the best in the world. We have plenty of freedoms, and we're a rich country. I'm with others in this thread. If you think the US sucks, then move to somewhere else. We allow that here. In fact, we allow you to move out of the country and EVEN COME BACK!!!! Imagine that. You could move to some other wonderful country, and if it didn't work out, you could come BACK to the US, build yourself another nest egg, then move out to another country! I'm sure there's loads of great places to live other than the US, and no one insists people have to stay here.

Leaving the country and working elsewhere is often not as easy as just packing up and leaving. One still does have to report taxes back to the US and you will have to attain necessary work permits to work outside. While there are many perks/loopholes created by being allies with several countries throughout the world, like any naturalization process it takes time for things to get done.

That being said I have no idea why this has become a political/bashing thread. There is a large amount of negative energy spewing out of a good majority of these posts... I am staying out of this thread!

This man appears to me to come from several generations of poverty. His turtle hunting skills that have been taught to him have probably fed many of his ancestors. He is no different than people in India or Africa or South America that obtain food by similar methods and who may be missing teeth as well. Do those of you who have feelings of superiority and contempt when seeing this guy have the same feelings when watching videos of indigenous hunters from other lands?

Well first off, you are right, there are several tribes in "Remote Places" of the earth that still use very primitive ways of hunting. And still do things as they used to many years ago. But last time I checked Kentucky was not a remote place of the earth. In fact I'm pretty sure they even have cars,TV's, and computers. So maybe it is time this individual also evolved. :rolleyes:

I am still a college student, though I do hope I am able move out of the country when I retire. I think all the work of getting out of America would not be worth it at this point in my life.
