what do you guys think about this possible trade?

i found an owner on craigslist that lives near me and has a male 08 pastel that "is about four months old." he wants to trade for a normal ball python and $100. he reports his pastel to be feeding well on frozen mice.

what would you guys do? would you go for it? and if you think i should go for it how would you go about the trade? for instance do you think i should go to where the snake is housed to check its living conditions, etc?

i have two 10 month old normal male BP and one of them is what i would be willing to trade.

My question would be "why"....why would he want to do that?

Seems a bit off to me.

I agree with Richard... doesn't really make sense. But you never know the reason. Just that people with morphs spend LOTS of time moving normal males, not acquiring them. :)

As far as a good deal, depends on the snake... not all pastels are created equal (not my line, but I am gonna use it).

I agree with both these guys, kinda fishy. I will add that even a high grade male pastel that size is not worth more than $100.

im wanting to get a pastel is the reason im posting this. if you all know of somewhere i can get one for less than $100 then let me know :D

Can find several breeders with males at $100, only problem is you would have to pay shipping, $50-60. But worth it to know you are getting a healthy, well established animal.

Ugh... I am going to sound like a jerk, but I do not trade for snakes that have portfolio shots in tanks.

Depends what part of the country your at,on the east coast Im sure you could go to any show & get one for under $100

I would say its not a good trade on your end. You can purchase a male pastel 08 for around $100 online. You may even find a local breeder that has one.

I have seen some pretty cheap '08 male pastels online.. probably the cheapest I can recall is $125 shipped. Personally I'd leave that trade alone.

Not sure where you're located but if there are any shows around you can easily find a male pastel for less than $100 and you still get to keep your other 2 snakes. Same thing with any local breeders in your area.

thanks for the help im glad i didnt jump on it. i want to go to a show around here somewhere to look for some but dont know of any. is there any kind of thread on BP.net that has like dates and locations of the different shows around the country?

They sell male pastels all day long for $100 at the shows.

I must be a :rolleye2: I don't see what you are talking about, please explain.

I paid $100 even for my male pastel at a show. That's about the price they were going for.

Ask him who produced it! Is it an established feeder? Does he keep records? etc.... Up until you, it may not have been under optimal care so i would pass and go with an established animal from a us breeder!

I know kingsnakes got a list of shows on their main page and if you click on any of the links on that list of shows a larger list will come up for even more.
