Re: Panda Pied....4 sale
Still looks like it has that weird shaped super-cinnamon head...
-
Re: Panda Pied....4 sale
Very cool... absolutely stunning snake.

Re: Panda Pied....4 sale
Pretty awesome looking though I would like it more if it's head was dark.
-
Re: Panda Pied....4 sale
Taking nothing away from this particular animal, which is stunning, I would like to see more of a traditional Pied look with a dark head, and patches down the body. At 18K this Morph is way outta' my range, but then again, so were the first Pie Balds when they were produced.

Re: Panda Pied....4 sale
Aside from that funky nose, thats one hot looking snake!
-
Re: Panda Pied....4 sale
I saw that earlier today. Does anyone keep new combos anymore? It seems that whenever something new and cool hatches out, that it is available for purchase within a month or two. I guess that way if someone buys it, the breeder makes a large sale. If not, then the breeder gets to keep the pretty snake...
-
Re: Panda Pied....4 sale
Damn. That is my dream snake...

I bet if it had been a male he would have kept it. Why wait to breed it in two-three years to produce more when the price is down by 1/3 when you can make more next season with the same parents, and make a bunch of cash with this one. You know I wonder what he did with its siblings?

Re: Panda Pied....4 sale
what are the base morphs in that snake?
-
Re: Panda Pied....4 sale
i think its a super cinnamon pied.
-
Re: Panda Pied....4 sale
it is unbelievable but so is the price I would personaly never pay anywhere near that for an animal

I produced Pied Mojaves not long ago and the only reason I posted one for sale is to raise money for other projects.

Why would you sell that...

Re: Panda Pied....4 sale

Re: Panda Pied....4 sale
Please excuse my ignorance. I'm new to morphs but I'm trying to understand how it works.
The BP for sale is a "one of a kind" and hasn't been bred so no one knows what it will produce. How is that considered a new morph? Doesn't it have to be proven somehow? Can it be consistanly reproduced?
To my untrained eye the BP pictured looks like a poor example of a black eyed leucustic. Poor example because it has two dark spots.
Am I reading this incorrectly?
Thanks, JohnNJ

Re: Panda Pied....4 sale
Like camb and BillB posted it's a combination of known morphs. It's a double homozygous for both piebald and either cinnamon or black pastel. So we can be pretty confident of how its genetics will work. I really like it and think it's much better looking than I thought it might be after it took so long to get the initial pictures released. It will be interesting to see how variable the black/white ratio is as more are produced but I like a mostly white snake.
-
Re: Panda Pied....4 sale
It is not a new morph, but a new combo. It is a super black pastel pied, and was produced by Ian G breeding black pastel het pied x black pastel het pied .
Being a combo the genetics are already known, if bred to a normal all the offspring would be black pastel het pied.
-
Re: Panda Pied....4 sale
Thanks for the info.
What does this kind of breeding do to the snakes health? I read something about a head wobble. Anything bad being passed on among morphs?

Re: Panda Pied - have you seen this?
Thought I had commented on this animal, but, it seems that I became distracted on the breeders website!
Anyway, superb looking combo.
Can't see the isse with the nose / head that has been mentioned though?

The same thing happened to me! I love the Panda Pied, but he has quite a few other snakes that I would love to see under my tree as well!! :D
-
Re: Panda Pied - have you seen this?
In my opinion, that is the first pied combo that is as beautiful as the origional pied.
-
Re: Panda Pied - have you seen this?
That's one amazing snake! I don't know how I haven't seen these guys website previously. They have some out of control combos going on over there!
PEWTER GENETIC STRIPE!
Now that gets me hot way more than the "panda pied" :rolleye2:

Re: Panda Pied - have you seen this?
I really like that one....I'm sure he's working on one that will have the pattern of a cow....then we'll all be enjoying Cow Pies

hmm, that doesnt make sense to me, im sure ian g could of sold it for just as much as mike cole could of?
does anybody have any exact details on it? maybe ian g and mike cole had a deal in place after breeding some of each other snakes etc? if it was male it would of been sold before it was even advertised. even breeding to a normal would produce black pastel het pieds, imagine breeding this to a pastel pied male? or even a pewter pied (immagine a silver bullter pied!!!!!) (i know the pewter pied hasnt been produced yet, but would be by the time this little girl was big enough to breed) i know that ralph had a few offers of $100k on a female dreamsicle. and he turned it down, females are in some ways more powerful than males.

I thought Ralph was selling DS for $12-15K? And I'm currently working on the pewter pied. 3.0 pewter het pieds here. :D

Re: Panda Pied - have you seen this?
Awesome snake, however there is definatley something funky going on with the nose/jaw in this picture.

Re: Panda Pied - have you seen this?
Super Black Pastels(or super cinnamons) sometimes have what is termed a "duckbill" appearance to the nose. This super combo seems to have a small amount of duckbill to it too. It in no way affects the animal eating, it's just a funny look to the nose. On this particular animal it's enhanced by the dark eyes so it looks more pronounced in pictures I think(IMHO).
Micheal Cole probably had something Ian G wanted really bad, so they may have traded or sold back and forth. Many bigger breeders do this a lot, so a price tag may not reflect on any amount of actual cash that changed hands.
I can't wait to see more of these Panda Pieds. I want to see if some are more color, less white. Still a gorgeous animal, and yes.. I spent a long time clicking around the site looking at all the other combos and morphs available! *click* *click* *click*

Re: Panda Pied - have you seen this?
I thought the super black pastels were "kink free", hence people prefering them over cinnamons? Have I been told wrong?
-
Re: Panda Pied - have you seen this?
Kink is different than the duckbill problem.
-
Re: Panda Pied - have you seen this?
Everytime I think I've seen the coolest ball, someone has something that makes my jaw drop. Amazing!
-
Re: Panda Pied - have you seen this?
Does anyone ever consider, color may have a visual affect on head shape? A head with pattern may look completely different than a head with only a single color. Sometimes the pattern can play tricks on the mind. Maybe all balls have a "duckbill" shape to the head, but the pattern and color make it less pronounced. I personally have never noticed the "duckbill" shape, but maybe I'm not looking at the right animals?

Re: Panda Pied - have you seen this?
Really guys? I'm generally a fan of pieds, but I'm really not seeing anything $18k amazing. :weirdface It's really pretty, no doubt. Kinda looks like someone took a couple bites out of it, haha.

Re: Panda Pied - have you seen this?
Personally, I like the pied better.

I was not aware of cinnamons having kink problems. Are you sure you're not confusing cinnamons with caramels?

Here's a good example I found on Exotics by Nature's website showing photos from Daytona 07. If you look at the link and page down, there is a group of super cinnamon photos. A good example can be seen in the head shot with the white background where you can clearly see the concave head shape. It's also easy to compare the profile with the photo above it where the snake's head is pretty much in the same position.

I ment the duckbill thing, I thought "kink" ment like a general physical flaw. My bad. ;)

The original supers produced by Gulf Coast Reptiles had kinks as well as funky looking faces. I've heard about it as a problem from time to time, though not as often as you hear about the duck bills. I think it's more of a problem in the black pastel line.

Thanks for the link. I still don't see much of a "duckbill" look. There is a slight indention, but not so much to make the uproar I've seen over it. I'll take 10 of them. :)
