Eggs!!!!!!!!

This is my first egg session with Leos...Im SUPER SUPER excited!!!!!!!

The eggs are dimpled and very soft. They were layed last night/this morning. I have heard that dimpled eggs means infertile???

Help??? LOL

Congrats on the eggs man, and good luck!!! I wish I could lend some advice with them, but I've only ever bred Tokays :P

I have bred leopard geckos for 4 years but currently don't have a male right now!! Sucken eggs can mean infertile also if they were just layed they will be soft and sucken in but make sure the humidity is around 80-100% humidity when incubating and also I would incubate them in a incubator because room temps will take a long time for them to hatch!! If you want male leopard geckos babies then incubate at 88-90 degrees and for females 68-80 degrees. You can candle the eggs at around 3 days and see if they are fertile, they will have a red glow or veins forming and if they are infertile they will be clearish yellow, but always wait to be sure in a week or two if they are fertile and if not throw them out!! Awesome Patrick, congrats on those eggs. Dimpled can be infertile, but doesn't always mean infertile, try covering the eggs with a wet paper towel over night and check them the next morning, and see if those dimples have popped out.

Congrats Pat I can’t wait to see some babies crawling out of those eggs, I can imagine how excited you are, I am too looking forward to breed my guys someday just make me a bit nervous though.

I think that 68 degrees was a typo. 78 degrees is about as low as I'd go incubating Leo eggs. I generally go 79-83 degrees for females, 84-87 degrees for a mix, and 88-90 degrees for males.

Pattimus, If you don't find the eggs right away they will be dimpled to some extent. Moisture will quickly swell them up to firmness. I have found that any eggs that get laid out in the open are infertile. I provide a Tupperware type egg laying box full of wet sphagnum moss with a door cut in the side rather than the top to retain humidity. Each female lays plenty of eggs through the season so don't worry if the first ones don't work out. The first set of eggs laid by a female are often infertile and after that they are good.

Thanx for the input. I did read up a bunch before doing this, I have them incubating at 82F and 97% humidity, so I am trying!

Now, feed her lots of yummy mealworms and get ready for round two in 2-4 weeks!! I will look forward to some pics of little Bell enigmas running around your incubator!

These eggs actually went moldy in my crap butt incubator I built LOL.

Should be gettin some cool stuff out this year for sure!!

Sorry about the eggs!!! So I take it you built a new incubator??? What are you hatching out this year??? Don't hold out on me!!! Are you selling or keeping or both???

LOL, just upgraded the old leo inc....its not a JW Exotics inc (;)), but it should work.

Agreed. Put them in a container with moist substrate (i use vermiculite and squeeze the water out as much as you can) they should plump up ina couple days if theyre firtile.
